Default Where's your RPM shift light set?

Wanted to know where everyone has their RPM shift light set at. Mine is at 6600rpm but I sometimes shift to soon, before redline, simply because the light comes on. This can be annoying when your racing someone and you want every bit of power. I wanted to set at about 6700rpm but wanted to see where everyone else is at.

6400. tho I think my dad moved it to 6600.

I like having it blink and go solid, gives me 2 stages of warning for it. due to the declining power band in the high RPMs, and the fact that hitting the rev limiter is not good at all, Id rather shift too soon than too late.

Mines set at 6400rpm...I wish the Z had another 300rpm past the redline before it hits fuel cut because the motor revs too fast by the time you are at 6600rpm, your at the limiter...

6500 for me. I'm used to a big yellow Autometer light, so i'm gonna have to get used to a small red square.

BTW, when does the light start blinking?

Default Shift indicator

Is there anyway to just make it STAY solid instead of blinking when its near the set RPM? Like just have a solid light once it reaches the desired RPM? The blinking is very annoying... thats why i set it 6200 RPM .. but would be cool if i can actually use it w/o being annoyed.

it blinks 500 under the set limit, and solid at it.

if it bothers you, it can be set as high as 8000, in which case youd never get anywhere near it.

Default Reason to set it low.

I just a newby with 600 miles, but I set mine at 5k to keep me from going to high in the break in period. I know 4k is recommended, but that is asking too much. Anyway, the light flashes at 4.5K, and it reminds me I am not allowed to roar yet. A second benefit is that it reminds my wife as well.

Default RPM shift light

4000 Rpm is breaking peroid? I thought you were not suppose to rev high for at least a good thousand miles. I currently have 1003 miles on my Z, and i very rarely go over 3000. Only twice did i hit 5000 to test out the cars power. . (couldnt resist =D)

I have mine set at 4K as well, and it's so tempting to not look down at the blinking red light. I passed my 1000 mark this weekend and cannot wait to increase my blink limit to 6K.

Its really tough cause I used to drive a Celica GTS and the power on those 4-bangers are in the 7K band.

So right now, my Nissan motto is Shift_early.
