For a DD considering the choices a BMW would be my choice.
The problem is the maintenance since it is out of warranty. Not only that, but the resale blows once out of warranty.
For a toy, I would get the Z though for obvious reasons.
The 325 has an ample power band for its low power output and feels good, but if you can get a 330 for that price, I would opt for the bigger engine.
Also my 325 got mid 20's on the streets and like 30 on the highways. They are not bad on gas for a 6cyl

yeah if i were to go bimmer i wouldn't go for a 325 or 330 i would only go with the 335 6mt of course , but if not willing to pay that much and have just as much fun or most likely more fun go Z, if you think theres not enough space cause its a two seater maybe you can even think of going G

good luck on getting what you want for your pathfinder SUV (10k+). for what its worth here on the Z forum we're mostly biased however the BMWs are very nice cars but for the joy i've gotten out of my Z....
+1 for the Z
if you don't like paying $4.00 for a gallon of gas, ride a bicycle.

just a thought... buy a BMW so you can save us the pain of reading through useless threads like this one. To answer your question on a Z Forum... buy a Z. Its a track star.. not a grocery getter.

But that's beyond the point. A car will last you as long as you want it to. Take care of that car and it will surely take care of you. I've been around many many different makes of cars and can tell you whether it's a BMW or Nissan. They both can be extremely well maintained and cause no headache at all. But I've known some 350Z's and BMW's that cause problems due to lack of care and maintence. How many of you can honestly say you're 100% up to date on the maintence of your car. I can.
But to the OP good luck with your buy. At one point I was in your shoes but I thought about the mileage that the BMW's sell with and chose my 18,600 mile Z. Never been happier until I get my 911 Turbo next.

Should I get a
-325i coupe or sedan or convertible
-330i coupe or sedan or convertible
or
-Nissan 350Z like an '04 or around there
Im looking for something under $20,000
The reason why is, I have a '02 Nissan Pathfinder that I want to trade in. Its valued just at $10,000. I figured if I go Nissan they might give me more money for that trade rather than a "general" used dealership that sells everything.
I want to compare performance, maintenance, cost, gas mileage, and anything else you can think of.
Thanks

I have a 328i and a 350Z and .... 350Z > 328i in pretty much everything except handling where they're very close. I have a sport suspension on the bimmer.
