Find a Porsche 911 owner and ask him how he likes his Porsche Boxster. You won’t believe how fast the correction comes back: “Oh no, this is a 911, not a Boxster.”
911 owners hate the fact that the 911 and the Boxster share nearly identical front ends that allows confusing the two.

The surprising part is the 911 is a very old design (rear-engine) with horrible weight distribution issues that Porsche has worked hard to correct over the years. It should be dead, but the Porsche purists cannot let it go.
The Boxster and Cayman are mid-engine cars with great handling that the 911 matches only because of extraordinary efforts by the 911 design team on the car’s suspension and weight distribution (e.g., dual batteries up front -- left and right, a unique suspension, and a bunch of other stuff).
It’s no wonder the 911 costs so much with all the compensation expense. And, it isn’t surprising that 911 owners are so defensive on the confusion between their very expensive cars vs. a less costly car from the same manufacturer. Certainly a mid-engine design is better than rear-engine. The 911 owners have heritage and co$t. But, boy and howdy do they get upset when you confuse the cars.
