Default Dealership and my Aerosync Front Bumper

Hey guys,

I went to my local Nissan Dealership to get my oil and filter changed, along with a bolt to secure my newly painted nismo sideskirts. I go to the place, and go in and ask where I should go to leave my car for the service people. The man replies move your car down the ramp and the people on the right will help you. I do as he says, I start going down the ramp and I was barely moving going down the ramp, being as careful as possible, and I hear my Aerosync front bumper (which was also just painted) scrape going down the ramp.

Note: My car only had an Aerosync Bumper and Nismo sides. It is NOT lowered what so ever.

I am pretty upset about this, but the service men didn't see it. I let them have the car to do their work, and 30 minutes later their done. I get in the car to drive it home, check the scrape on the bumper and it had taken the paint right off the bottom of the bumper. I call them back and tell them that I think it was their fault becasue it was my first time at this dealership and no one warned me that this ramp was uneven, which made me scrape. The service person says that they dont service low cars. Even though I saw a brand new GTR being purchased while parking my car.

To make things worse, they didn't ask me for permission if I wanted my car washed and put my car through a drive through car wash. I even told the guy I just got this body kit put on a week ago and the paint was fresh.

Do you guys have any input on this, am I wrong to be upset about this, or is it totally my fault?

I am going to see the service manager tommarow at 3 and will keep all of you up to date in this matter.

Thanks,
Dan

Show them proof your car isn't lowered, like take pictures of the Nissan parts numbers on the springs ect.

Deffinitly ***** about the carwash.

If YOU drove your car down the ramp, that would be your own fault on scraping your bumper. You are basically **** out of luck unless they are nice and want to pay for damages which they most likely won't. At best, i see them giving you a discount on a future oil change.

A lot of dealerships give complimentary washes when using any type of services with them. You should of let them know before hand that you didn't want that. Dealerships suck but i work at one.

First, you were in the driver's seat and controlling the vehicle. YOU should've checked the "ramp" after they asked you to go down that way. The scraping is not their fault.

The wash may have been complimentary to all their guests. If you didn't catch on to the generosity and request them not to wash it for you, the what do you expect? At least they offer something just to be nice to the customers.

Thanks for the replies,

The manager was very nice on the phone and said that I should have been told that "different types of cars" have to enter a different way, by the person who told me to enter down the ramp. I mean I can see that the dealerships are trying to help with giving complementary car washes.

This dealership is also a body shop. I made a point to tell the service person, I JUST put this bodykit on a week ago. I thought they would know not to wash it too hard. I also never knew anything about this dealership because this was the first time i've been there.

This is clearly the first of many brushes you will have with scrapes,
bumps and bruises. The easiest way to deal is to move on and focus
on avoiding the next mishap. you'll be fine. go buy another part.

Thanks again for the comments, I am just upset because this is a week old paint job and i cant believe that the dealership would have such crappy ways to get into their garage especially with other cars like the gtr which was being sold when i left. I mean i know its my responsability but hopefully they can work with me to fix it and ill be more careful in the future. In any case after all of this it makes me wanna get a cf splitter and forget about scraping for good.

You're fault you scraped. you should have been more careful. own up and stop blaming the stealership because you're not compensating for having a bumper that sits lower than stock. is you're next thread going to be about you complaining that the mall parking lot has speed bumps..you scraped on speed bumps...and they should paint you're bumper over because of you're carelessness.?

No, Zenmstr, my next thread isn't going to be about that. The ramp was a poorly designed ramp. It wasn't any normal ramp. The ramp went down and then the level of the ground went up. I always go slow into every parking lot so I don't scrape. And I go slow while going over speed bumps. If this wasn't such a shitty location I would have never done this. I just did what I was directed to do. I was directed to go in down the ramp. Nothing else. No one said anything about another entrance. I was barely moving going down the ramp. Why would I not be careful with a car I just got a body kit on and painted? I didn't scrape on a speedbump, I scraped on a shitty made ramp.

Why are you complaining when it was clearly your fault since you had the control over the vehicle the entire time? I can understand if the service dept drove your car and scrapped the crap out of it. But this is clearly not the case. They don't have to tell you anything about the ramp because its not their responsibility to do so. It is your car, when you drive it, you curb it, your fault.

Apparently my complaining was justified with the service manager about 30 minutes ago. The service manager and I agreed that he would take care of the about 7 inch scrape that is on the bottom of my bumper. We will just have to wait a little longer becasue the paint is so new on the front bumper. I believe that it was the dealerships responsibility to tell people about the ramp. Or at least have a sign for another entrence.

I'm sure all of you would be just as upset if this had happened to you, espically on a kit I just purchased and had to have painted.

All in all, I think the dealership did the right thing in agreeing to re-do the part of my bumper that got scraped from the ramp. And I am pleased with the way the dealership handled this situation.

Yes, I know I got lucky. I know everyone is trying to set me up for the next scrape. I wouldnt have minded the scrape so much if the scrape was on the bottom of the bumper and I couldnt see it. This scrape I got from the ramp was visable when you looked at the bumper straight on becasue the ramp had such a steep drop.

My brother has an Audi s4 and it is pretty damn low. He scrapes but you cannot see any of the scrapes unless you are on the ground looking up at the bottom of the bumper.
