Anyone else notice that the popular car magazines ignore the Z?
I regularly read Car & Driver, Road & Track, and Automobile; I see very little coverage of the Z in these popular car magazines. I wonder if anyone else notices this, and also wonder why there is so little mention of the Z in these magazines. When the Z is covered, it’s usually part of some other article.
There is lots of information and articles about the Infiniti G37 and most of the Nissan models, except the Z:
So… why the lack of coverage for the Z?

There is lots of information and articles about the Infiniti G37 and most of the Nissan models, except the Z:
- Automobile magazine is currently doing a one year analysis of the G37 (very favorable so far, at the 6 month point).
- All the magazines I mention recently ran articles dedicated to the Nissan GT-R (I guess that’s no surprise since it is an exciting automobile).
- The Altima and Maxima get plenty of coverage.
So… why the lack of coverage for the Z?

Generally these mags don't cover "old" news. The Z is now technically 6 model years old. It's kind of like beating a dead horse to talk about a car that old.
I absolutely love my Z, but I don't honestly expect them to keep talking about it this long after its release. That's what all of the Z magazines are for.

Yup, nothing new about the car. Those rags are only interested in the latest thing. Wait till the end of this year as we get closer to the 370Z release. It will be on the cover of every magazine.

This is OT, but my car (a 2003 Z) is about to leave the manufacturer’s drive train warranty. So far I’ve limited my mods to things like A/V and minor stuff so as not to jeopardize the 5 yr./60K drive train warranty. Now that the warranty has expired, it’s time to think about some serious mods for the car. I’m sure there are many Z owners in this situation, and will now begin a build-up on their cars. That’s probably a reason that one magazine is doing a project car. That’s also good news for Sponsors on my350z.com selling build-up products.
And way off OT… what happens to the site name (my350z.com) when the 370 Z makes its debut?

seriously i have seen a tone of z's in the pas coupple of years on covers and a tone of evo's i'm seriously getting sick of it... and most of the mags are like 4 months behind so they cover cars that have been popular for a while already it's kinda gay
There were some articles about the Nismo Z last year but that was the last major update for the platform. When the 370 Z comes out I'm sure there will be articles in all of them.
Well if you read the "import" magazines you'll notice the Z's get tons of attention.
DSPORT IMPORT TUNER SPORT COMPACT TURBO SUPER STREET etc etc
all feature or project or do a power pages article on a Z/G almost every issue...Kinda getting annoying seeing nothing but EVO/STI/350Z/240's featured on the same crap.

Nissan Sport Magazine has extensive coverage of the 350Z, with no less than three project cars (350Z street, T2 and GT3 racecars). We also feature reader's Datsun/Infiniti/Nissan rides and reviews/tests of the latest cars and aftermarket equipment for them.
There's even coverage of Nissan enthusiast events and websites (including this one) and race content you won't find anywhere else. It's amazing that so many have never heard of us! The just released summer '08 issue is hitting subscribers mailboxes and newstands now. You can preview it at:

[FONT="Arial"][SIZE="5"]When I was in my teens, I subscribed to those mags, but eventually gave up on them. Why? They profile 6 figure supercars that most of us will never even see, much less be able to buy. Really - the Ferrari V-32 Roadster that goes 500 mph and costs the entire GNP of Brazil? Are you REALLY going to buy that car?
They hate Z's and any other affordable car. They suck!
