I ordered my Chrome Silver Enthusiast 5AT (my wife is handicapped-cannot clutch-I must share) late March. I received my Nissan formal confirmation as well as the limited edition CD-ROM packet #6319. My dealer, Rancho Motor, Victorville CA has given me a delivery date of October 2nd. However, I/they do not yet have VIN. BTW Pure MSRP...no games so far from RM.

My question as I try to organize this whole Car company way of doing business is.....
1.If there is no VIN, has the car not yet been built?
2.How much time from assembly line to ship load up?
3.Time at sea..time at dock unload.
4.Time from dock to truck

I could settle down and trust my dealer's estimated delivery and simply wait 5 more weeks, unfortunately, I've seen my model in the flesh and cannot believe the incredible design, performance and value I have had the fortune to have pre-ordered. This car will be historic in it's appeal. I'm hoping that you, my good brothers in Z can clarify the chain of events for me. The Z is OUT!

 

Gentlemen, no need to respond to my last longwinded search for answers...a co-worker's sister enjoys a position of responsibility in the financial division of Nissan/USA. Upon a request for delivery status regarding my order I recieved this message:

with the added message, "Hopefully,we will get it there a little before that." This from Nissan/USA

I believe the dealers, (I've visited 3 to view the Z up close) do not concern themselves with the details other than opening the gate for the vehicle delivery trucks....unless, a saleperson has a vested personal interest in that je or she has a pre-order like the the rest of us. On the otherhand, I found the tone of this response and forward from Nissan/USA encouraging in that ther ewas a sense of pride and knowledge of these delivery details...my dealers response "Sept 17..really, cool!" Yea whatever..
