Splash Guards - Dealer saying not a option
that they must be ordered with the car
Tell me if you ever heard of this before
When I ordered my 2004 Enthusist coupe, I ordered it with just floor + trunk mat, and kick plates. No splash guards
I am installing a body kit, so the splash guards are not needed.
My dealer told me they are not able to order the car without splash guards. That if they try, the order gets kicked back to them, like it is incomplete.
I wasn't to happy about this, as I don't want to take a chance of possible marks on my car, from removing the splash guards.
I called Nissan USA, and they said the dealer should be able to order without, after all it is an option. So they called my dealer for me, and my dealerships GM explained to Nissan USA how they are unable to order without. So it looks like I am stuck with them. .
Anyone else go through this ?
My dealer is being very nice about this, they told me they would love to not have to order what I do not want, and they would even put a note to not have the splash guards installed, and leave them in the car, if that was an option, that they would just take them.
They also meantion that certain trim Maxima's are the same way. They come with certain "options" and can not order without.
Doesn't sound like much of an "option" if I must take it

Sorry, the dealer is full of it. Nissan is correct.
Ask yourself, why would Nissan be WRONG and the dealer RIGHT??
Doesn't pass the smell test, does it...
My main concern would be if the dealer is giving me BS on this small matter, what else will he try to BS me on.
Good luck.
Peace

Call another dealership and tell them how much you agreed to pay to the first dealer and ask them if they want to beat the price.
Oh yea, and the splash gards ARE an option. Go the the website and you can order the car without them.

I've been looking for a website on the 350Z to see options, etc. and couldn' find one. What is the site?

I went with a buddy Z shopping recently, and he found one he liked but with spash guards.
So I said, "Nice car, but the splash guards have to go."
The sales-monkey said, "No, splash guards are required by law in the state of Washington."
I nearly died of laughter on the spot.
(My friend purcahsed the car anyways, '03 DB Touring

O the dealer knows they are an option, they are saying that they can not put the order in to Nissan, for an enthusist model, without that splash guards selected.
It doesn't make much sense for them to give me a hard time about it, what are they gonna make on them $50 bucks ?
And belive me, I would go elsewhere, but out of 20 dealers I faxed blasted, they were the lowest price.
AND they are in my town.

If...they were the lowest price. AND they are in my town... then just take the deal. If they are the lowest price with the splash guards I'll take the deal and remove them if you don't want them.
But, it should concern you the BS they are giving you.
Good luck. Peace

Yes, but the car without the add-on splash guards still has a little guard to it that I'm sure meets any state's so-called splash guard rule!
If the dealer is being straight with you, he would say, I can't order the car without them. You do not want them. I therefore will get the car for you and you will NOT be charged for them. It's that simple, but NO, they want to charge you for them. Therefore I believe this is simply another example of dealer BS!

Thanks. Just what I was looking for. Every dealer I've been to doesn't have any brochures to even look at options like colors, etc. I'm really starting to like these cars and want to get one soon. I wish they had a nice green.
When you try to configure an 04 Roadster, it doesn't list PP WHite as a color option if you chose the Enthusiast. It IS a choice with the Touring Roadster however. Also, it also doesn't list the new liquid aluminum color for either of the Roadsters?
