Default Who has had to replace their engine out of warranty?

its been a while since ive been on the forums. when my car started going downhill several thousand miles ago (started ticking), i kinda became displeased with it and started not taking care of it... i know, i know ...

but at 107k the motor is gone and i have decided to replace it and have fallen back in love. i cant wait, i would love to have been able to afford a new engine but i found a good deal on a '04 vq35 w/ 17k on it. i will have it shipped next week and hopefully have it put in soon after.

other than the engine the car is still in great shape...dirty as hell but that is a easy fix, i still have all my detailing equipment. and a few months ago i needed tires bad and this guy up the street just happen to have some 05 g35 18's in great shape laying around with the Michelin pilots w/ 95% tread(btw those tire suck ***). he sold them to me for $250... i couldn't believe it but they look great.

so who else has replaced the motor out of warranty? how did it go? and since im keeping my old engine maybe in the future actually dump some money in this car once i get this credit card payed off

I love the VQ but I think if my motor went out I might consider options of other motors... Hmmm... RB maybe, ?

Glad to hear you are back into it. I don't think I can ever let my Z go. If my motor went out though, i would build a motor..

i have just over 105k on my '04 and it still runs like a champ ...but it definitely needs a facelift. it's been keyed twice and my superblack paint is needing a refresher
