Audi TT, easiest shifting tranny ever. I like the E36 M3 shifter though.

from working on cars all day, to me the best smoothest shifting cars as far as shifter smoothness and clutch are the vw's and audi's. Personally dont like the cars, but they deff shift nice and smooth in all gears.

Truthfully my Z drive amazingly well. I have no notchy driving and or gear grinding shifts. I do however change my rear diff and trans fluids every 15k. Moly Lube Synthetic fluids.

2005 Subaru WRX STi. The S2000 ranks up there though.

Seems like everyone likes the S2000 shifter, but I've never driven so I can't comment.

My favorite shifter would have to be a Fox Body Mustang, the Pro5.0 shifter on the T-5. It had a great feel, not smooth but just the perfect mechanical feel.

Most Hondas are well known to have one of the easiest transmissions. They are the most forgiving in terms of clutch grab point and weight. Learned how to drive manual on a Honda and I still think it is one of the easiest to drive. Jeep Wrangler 4x4 is probably by far one of the hardest to drive. Hard *** clutch and notchy. Or maybe I was just unlucky to drive that car...

'89 Mazda Miata. I test drove a brand new one when they first came out. I'd buy one as a track-day car if I could find one that wasn't beat to hell.

I have owned a lot of stick-shift cars, and I really like the Z shifter feel. I like notchy.

Smoothest was probably the RSX-S. I like my rebuilt T56 with the Hurst shifter. Feels like a rifle or something. Super direct.

really? i have never drove Sti so i won't say anything but from what i have heard, clutch in Sti is way too stiff and just.. not comfortable?

well i love my Z's tranny except that it's noisy as hell which i don't mind.
also RX-8 was VERY smooth in my opinion.

A 1990 Miata.... the shifter was so low and the gates were really precise yet smooth.

But I've noticed anything with not too much torque below is going to slide into the gates pretty smoothly.
