What is the best shifting car that you have driven?
In side by side competition the S2000 has been reputed as having the best transmission against in the this test the 350Z and other $100k plus Sports Cars.
BMWs known to have a fantastic shifting Tranny. Of the two I'll take the 135/330 & up Bimmer which I consider an upgrade to the Z ooverall because it has torque and getting up.
How does a mod S2000 with above 270-300hp say 289 torque shift?
The RX-8 has a smooth tranny.

I find that the 07-08s 350Z shift a little better, but nothing like finger motion it takes to shift a S2000k/Honda or BMW.
How well does a SLseries/SL63 Mecedes Benz shift never driven a MT only Autos.

Whitout doubt, the Volkswagen Golf Gti DSG!
That car has a semiautomatic gearbox with no clutch pedal like a normal automatic car, but the gearbox has 2 clutches that changes gears fast as f....
My explaination is probably very poor, so read about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct-Shift_Gearbox
The Golf has paddels on the steering wheel so when you upshift gears, its just like you are just adding a deeper sound to the engine...
No manual transmission can ever come near the DSG gearbox, ist simply amazing!!!

A Ferrari Enzo's gearbox takes 150 milliseconds to upshift, Volkswagen's DSG gearboxtakes only 8 milliseconds to upshift...

I'd answer that with 2003 Honda Prelude, 1995- 2000 Toyota Supra, 1995 300zx, 1987 300Zx, 1980 280ZX, 1994 Porsche 944, 911, 924, 2005/2008 Rx-8 and 2006 Honda S2000. Smooth operators compared to my nochty 350Z.
What was the smoothest you've shifted?

1) 2004 Mazda RX8: (Currently owned) Very forgiving and the OE stick is the same length as the Atari 2600 joystick.
Clutch is waaay too light though. 2) 2004 Nissan 350Z Roadster (Currently Owned): This takes second place for me. Although 2-3 shift and 4-5 are way too long. Looking into short shifters for the Z.
3) 1988 Porsche 944 Turbo: (Previously owned) Short shifter with nice gates. Never missed a shift.
4) 1991 Nissan 240SX SE Coupe: (Previously Owned) Very light shifting and forgiving into the gates. Clutch was too light for me.
5) 1988 Mazda RX7 Turbo II: (Previously Owned) With a Racing Beat clutch and stock shifter, this car was a pleasure to drive. I used to live near Deal's Gap and this car was great to toss around in the curves.
6) Nissan 300ZX (Z31): (Previously owned 4 of these) I have had four of these. Three were M/T. Two were turbocharged. One was the rare '88 Shiro. The shifter was waaay too long but it slipped into each gate well. At times I felt like I was driving a UPS truck with a "John Holmes" length shifter.
7) 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS: (This is the first time I publicly admitted I leased one. What a mistake.) I never hated a car so much. I think the car hated me too. Dogs in the neighborhood used to **** on the tires. Maybe because I did it first. Shifts like crap. May it rot in hell.
8) 1994 Ferrari 348 Spyder (I didn't own it but I rented it for the weekend.) After 2,000 miles of driving in less than 3 days, I never got used to the hard chrome gates and tall shifter. First gear is impossible to engage when the trans is cold. The chrome gates and chrome shifter are tradition that should have been given up for technology that was already available in 1994.

S2000!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've owned and driven countless manual transmission equipped cars and even supercar trannies don't compare to the S2K tranny. It was LITERALLY touched by god and trained by Chuck Norris before production.
