The 370z weighs more, and only puts out around 10-15more rwhp than the 350z.
And also, alot of people don't know that the 370Z has a 3.7 final drive gear, without the higher gearing the 370Z wouldn't be any faster than an HR Z.

Which reports have you been reading? Both C&D and MT have shown it to be faster. And weight - optioned similarly - is similar or less.

Feb '09 MT shows 0-60 of 4.7 sec, 1/4 mile of 13.3 at 105.7. That compares favorably to the Nismo they tested in '07 (4.9/13.5@103.9). The only thing the Nismo did better was stop.

I am sure different drivers - different tracks - will shave that time even more. The above quotes are for comparison purposes only - your actual times may vary .

Saying the 350 is quicker than the 370 is like saying the DE is faster than the HR. It may be what many people want to believe - but it's just not true.

So - you are saying it is faster - right?

Acually it is a 3.69 axle ratio with a 2.93 final drive ratio. That is the ratios for the man trans cars.

Any idea what it is (stock) on the 350? Manual and auto? I believe auto is @3.36 (rear NOT final). Manual trans cars are usually geared shorter - so 3.69 is not out of the realm of possibilities.

great, another know-it-all, but yes, i'm saying the 370z is faster than the HR Z by an incredibly small margin to where it comes down to who's the better driver. like i said, if it wasn't for the higher gearing, the 370z wouldn't be any faster.

The higher gearing only gives it a higher top end speed.
That doesn't mean that it gets there any quicker. It has to pull through all the gears to hit the max rpm or it'll dog out upon shift.

You aren't making much sence dude.

uh no, the higher the final drive ratio the slower the top speed and quicker the acceleration.

My guess: This much +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

What I am trying to say here is this: every evolution of the engine should be better than the prev version. No doubt. IF it is worth it to you - no one here can tell you. You have to drive them and decide for yourself. For me - the dif wasn't big - so the decision was easy. Now....when the 370ZR is released....well, that may be a big enough difference to me to make the leap. Time will tell...
Too bad it's so ugly the minor performance diff is nullified.

Well - maybe not all - but at least this Lighten up dude.

And yes - regarding the other posts - the shorter gearing equals quicker acceleration. Not sure if the 370 has shorter gearing than the 350. See - I don't know it ALL

Anyway - yes, the 370 is a little faster than the 07/08 350, and the HR 350 is a little faster than the DE, and so on. And yes - the 400z will be quickest of all....or whatever the NEXT generation will be.

Thanks

this whole gearing situation seems to be impossible to make sense of, so i'm not even going to try anymore...

Shorter gearing = higher number. 3.90:1 > 3.70:1 acceleration wise, but lower top speed. You are both arguing the same point, but one of you is referring to shorter gearing as "higher" and the other is referring to it as shorter. shorter = higher, taller = lower. same ****.

lol, by "higher gearing" i was refering to the actuall # like 3.9 is a higher gearing than a 3.7, but meaning shorter gearing, I know what was talking about just not using the correct wording, my bad.

Again it should be a little faster, but we have yet to see it. All we know the better tires could be helping with traction. The 350z has done a 13.1 bone stock, the 370z hasn't hit that yet, and it has done traps from 105-107 stock. It's all about the driver it looks like.

I thought about it I just don't buy the first year of a new model. Also I just don't feel the styling of the new Z. Its something so robotech/voltron about the car. It looks like something that should be animated movie.

And as for saving dough. I like putting down large down payments. It really helps with the negotiations of the purchase price. Also people don't count on life happening. for some reason people always think that there finances always get better not worse. I always put myself in a position of no matter what the economic climate is. I will be able to pay my note.

I just moved up from a 06 base (which had the oil consumption problem and got a new engine around 30,000 miles) to an 08 base. I cant speak for the 07 but the only things I dislike in the 08 is that they lost the spring loaded change drawer on the passenger side above the dc outlet (loved that thing dont know where to put my change now) and the headrest are taller and for some annoying reason when you rest your head against it you can feel the metal prongs poking you in the back. Has anyone else noticed this? Other then that 08 rules!

Also did someone say the HR has a nismo exhaust? Doesn't sound like it or seem likely.
