Talking Engine hot?

I picked my 350z up two weeks ago and slowly breaking it in. It seems like the first 1200 miles are going by super slow. Cant wait to open it up a little. Anyways I was going to check the oil and noticed that the engine was still pretty hot to the touch after a couple of hours sitting. The dipstick seems a little ackward to use. I live in Southern California and the weather has been hotter than normal. But the engine seemed pretty hot to the touch. Does anyway have any experience with this. Other than that I love the car. The only problem that I have is that my wife and I fight over who is going to drive the 350z.

There was a thread about this long ago, and everyone agreed that the car warms up quickly, and stays warm for 4 or 5 hours at least.

but never gets over a little under mid point of the temp range.

might be attributable to the aluminum block? I dont think aluminum is a great conductor of heat actually.

Mine always goes a little over the midpoint, and didn't most people say theirs did too?

Most (if not all) "heatsinks" for electronic components are made of aluminium. I know this because it's what I do for a living.

Don't know much about engines though. 4 to 5 hours seems like a long time...

Default Engine heat

I live in Arizona and on many, many occasions, while photographing my car, I leave it idling in 110+ degree temps for extended periods. I have never had the temp guage approach midway, even w/AC running while idling. I have done this @ 117 degrees and had no upswing of the temp guage. I do have 36,321 miles on her tho...... Regards, Jim
