Default Questions about a Z

Hey guys I'm new here. I have a buddy that just bought a Z and its a fairly nice car. Wondering how they do in the snow as Im looking to buy one for a daily driver. His was peppy but not really super fast so Im thinking something kinda fun to drive so I can leave my high HP car at home. Not sure weather or not to get a manual or auto. I would buy a beater but want something to where I can still lay the smackdown on a stang on the way to work in the morning if need be.

Thanks for any info guys.

I live in colorado as well. It's highly suggested that you don't drive the Z in the snow. Not just because of the large potential that you will ram it into a pole but also because of all the salt crap city officials love to dump on the roads. If do you decide to drive in the snow, I would buy dedicated rims with blizzaks snow tires. But for the price of rims and snow tires, you could just buy the beater and not risk the Z.

There is no reason to lay the smack down on a stang when its snowing outside.

haha, no i obviously dont race in the snow, that is dumb. Would just like to park my car for the winter and have something kinda fun to drive for a few months so I dont loose my mind not driving something fun for a couple months at a time.

I was thinking of getting a STI but the 350 has some appeal to it as well. Either one would definatly have a set of wheels and tires on it for colorado winter.

I think they just use mag chloride and sand. Dont think any salt has been put down for the last couple winters. Could be wrong though.

Go with a AWD car, like the EVO or STI for a daily driver.

problem is I dont like 4 bangers. Even with the turbo, they are not tourqie motors. Here in denver we dont get that much snow, maybe 10 max days I will have to drive it with some snow on the ground. I am planning to tear down my car now during the winter for some more upgrades so rain or shine, I need soemthing else to drive.

I would imagine a 350z would be a little better on insurance too.

What's the "high horspower car" you speak of?

I would rather get an AWD car Evo/Sti, they are just as fast as the Z and they're not your typical Honda 4 bangers, they sure do have and can make a lot of torque.

I'm sure he can not anwser this question because it will get the thread locked. I'm almost positive that he has "street raced" his car thus knowing it is fast!!

2005 GTO 454LSX making 624rwhp on motor. There is a F1-A procharger and direct port nitrous sitting in my garage for the winter teardown.

FWIW, I have driven this in past winters so 300HP isnt going to be a problem in the snow.

nice gto. and just go test drive the sti and the 350z see how you like both of them and make a choice if you even want either of them. and sti's make a good amount of tq. being that is makes more tq than the 350z at 300hp and 300tq

I'm not always 100% happy that I passed up a Subaru and got my Z. Granted it was an old 2.5 RS and not an STI. I could have paid it off in full, rather than buying a $38k 350 so they aren't completely comparable.

Still, if you can find a well-priced STI, that is a year round car. If you're like me and you love snowboarding as much as driving, owning a Z is a bit of a paradigm.

Post pics! GTOs are badass, epsecially the trim level with the 6.0 and dual exhausts.
