I get tailed a lot by cops but ever since I put the body kit on I haven't been pulled over... been a couple months... i think that's the longest I've gone without getting pulled over since I've owned the thing. Got a non-moving ticket (before i put the kit on) for not having a license plate on the front... i contested it cause it was in the window and the judge guy(military police judge) said i deserved it cause the only reason i didn't have it in the front is cause i want my car to look cool... i about punched him in the face... if i wanted my car too look cool at the time i'd have put a body kit on it already... stupid chief whats-his-name... but i guess that makes up for getting pulled over doing 130+ in a 35 and not getting a ticket

He's not bragging, just stating a fact. My 22 years as a drug officer, accident investigator, etc in the military has nothing to do with bragging either. But the accidents from speeding surely show what happens. I have had a Z since they came out in 2003, no tickets, never stopped, and yes a few looks, with mutual nods from Southern to Northern CA. I think it all depends on how a person drives his beautiful Z. I'm sure all sports cars are treated equally. This is just my observation of course, as everybody has their own. Just enjoy your Z as you know it's your beauty, as we all do with ours. Don't let the feeling of being targeted as a bothersome annoyance, just enjoy yours and have fun.

Discussion with out foul language would be nice. Discussions rather agree or disagree are great, but at least in a clean format. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the name calling, btw.

20 Years as an LEO and thousands of traffic stops/citations issued gives me a little more insight into this than you. The type of car one owns does not determine if they get stopped or not. The driving habits of the individual is the determining factor.

The fact you got no tickets while in your SUV is moot. It only means you were lucky.

You fail to see the fact you speed is why you got ticketed. Yet you still cling to this broken heart story... Waaa, I get speeding tickets only because I drive a Z. Give me a break and grow up some. Once you learn to take some personal responsibility in your actions, you will understand what I am saying. Until then, keep blaming everything else.

Yeah right, then tell me why I have never gotten pulled over in the 4 months I've had my Z, cops never look at me for more than 3 seconds, and they don't tail me for more than 2 or 3 blocks. It's the driving, not the car. Anyone who tells you otherwise is a bold faced liar.

Speeding in a parking lot or residential is another matter.

Thanks for the clarification, I meant on parking lots, city streets, etc. Freeway is a different story.

Maybe because you live in SoCal where Zs are more common??

You did mention that they're tailing you though...why do they even tail you to begin with?

knock on wood - but I've never even been pulled over in the Z.

I do agree that profiling exists...but mustangs/camaro's, eclipses, and other "young people cars" are much more likely to bring unwanted attention than the Z in my city...very few ppl under 40 own them here....so not a huge issue here. YMMV.

when I was in college I had hell w/ the police until I bought a 4 door luxury family sedan. My driving didn't change, only the car I was driving.

Yes I live in the SoCal area, but specifcally in the High Desert area, Zs are rare around here.

And yes they tail me, they do it to everyone around here, and only happened four times to me. Also I'm usually out late on my days off, so of course they're gonna tail that lonely car driving around at 2 or 3 am, that's when the local bars close too.

I have never gotten a speeding ticket with the Z.
IMO the Z def. does not draw any "special" attention, its the driving.
I come across a lot of cops who drive quite slow, I pass them w/ no problem (while going around the speed limit) and they don't even look at me or speed up to catch up with me.
I rarely speed excessively, although I do like to have my fun once in a while.
There was this one time I was doing 85 in the passing lane of the NJ Turnpike around 1 am and there was a undercover state trooper who was hiding out that didn't pull me over. I was positive he would pull me over, so i slowed down and prepared to pull over....but he never came for me. Lucky

Are you a Mod?

You aren't even a paying member of the board, so fall back.

My 2 cents

Depends on several things whether cops are paying a car attention.
-Depends on the cop. I had a customized 1996 Camaro and I was stopped by 2 cops who said I had a nice car and it looked fast.
-I was stopped a few times in my customized Lexus SC300. One cop said he wanted to make sure it wasn't stolen. One said it was a nice car. One wanted to know what I did to afford it.
-Red cars attract cops qite a bit because psychologically, it says a person is aggressive or a show-off.
I was never stopped in my Infiniti J30 and my current Lexus GS350. Both with wheels, tint and other mods. Looks like sedans attract less attention.

I can't believe I was never stopped in the G35 I had. I was constantly speeding and taking chances in that car. I did have an accident when taking one of those chances though.
