High/Freeway downshift question...
On my HR, 3rd goes to over a 100 mph.
STOCK 3.357 Gear-- ECU REFLASH 3.357 ---HR Engine
6600 Rpm Redline --------7200 Rpm Redline----------7500 Rpm Redline
First------40mph ------First-----44mph-----------First-----46mph
Second ----66mph ------Second----71mph-----------Second----74mph
Third------94mph-------Third----102mph-----------Third----107mph
Forth-----120mph-------Forth----131mph-----------Forth----136mph
Fith------152mph-------Fith-----166mph-----------Fith-----173mph
Sixth-----192mph-------Sixth----209mph-----------Sixth----218mph
STOCK 3.538 Gear-- ECU REFLASH 3.538 ---HR Engine
6600 Rpm Redline -------7200 Rpm Redline-----------7500 Rpm Redline
First -----38mph ------First-----42mph-----------First-----43mph
Second ----62mph-------Second----68mph-----------Second----71mph
Third -----89mph-------Third ----97mph-----------Third----101mph

Fith -----144mph-------Fith-----158mph-----------Fith-----164mph
Sixth ----182mph-------Sixth----199mph-----------Sixth----207mph
It's a 6mt.
Hmmm, that chart doesn't look right for my car. I'm at the very top of 4th when I go through the traps at 101-102mph.
2nd gear also doesn't quite net me 60mph. More like 57-58mph.
The rear end is stock as far as I know...

Holy cow this is turning into a science.
Simply put, whether you are in 3rd upshifting or downshifting at a set speed your RPM's are going to be the same. So drive you car through the gears and pay attention to your RPM relative to your speed. Drive your car enough and it will be second nature which gear you select.
The biggest thing is, don't beat on your car senslessly. Drive it hard but don't do ricer downshifts while cruising down the highway. What I mean by this is when you downshift to take off, downshift and then let the clutch our at a moderate pace, allow the engine RPM's to speed up and then, PUNCH IT! Your transmission and engine will thank you by not grenading itself.

Are yo uon stock rims and tires?
(sorry, late to thread)
Just read that, and I haven't laughed out loud in a while, but that was funny.
OP, like everyone said, if you're doing a 6-->3, rev-match. All things being equal, 6-->4 is probably better for clutch longevity.
