GTR is nice but maybe we need a true High Performance sports car...
The dictionary defines a sedan as a 2 or 4 door car seating 4 or more people. A sports car on the other hand is defined as a small, high powered automobile with long, low lines usually seating 2 people.
I would call the GT-R a high performance sedan and the Z a sports car.

I think what the OP was trying to say is Nissan needs a car that is lighter weight, 2 seater, etc. Now im just guessing, but I think what he meant is that Nissan needs a car about the size and weight of a Z with GTR power to compete with the ZR1. That is my interpretation.
Either that or he is just retarded.

so a 911 turbo is not a sports car? and what about the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti
OP is digging the line between SUPER CAR and SPORTS CAR yes, Lambo's, Ferrari and the like are SUPER CARS and the GTR and 911 GT2s would be in that league or classification also. Nissan's boosted car is a supercar and their "sports cars" are high performance N/A engines.
I think OP just wants cheap nissan boost from factory.

Well I am happy with my 350Z track model at the price I paid and with the additional hp added legally, with the state carb cert. 404 hp, but then remember the speed limit can be reached with my 212 hp Amanti in the same easy way... gas pedal, only time difference and the fun of the Z tells the whole story. Still remember the heads turning when I first bought it in Sep 2003. If I win the lottery (must buy ticket though), then I would buy the SpecV GTR, might as well go all the way... By the way, nice video sources you all posted. Also enjoyable thread to read.
SpecV:
Lighter
Stronger
Faster
2 Seats
& Finally $150,000 (Exactly what your definition of a TRUE supercar is >$100,000)
...just because the thing is a pork and less than $100,000 doesn't mean it's not "real."
Because, I guarantee you that when I go up and touch it, my hand will not fall through it.
No offense but, I usually don't waste my time entertaining idiocy. But this - is truly... something else.

i think what he really means is for a supercar LOOK
the GT-R has the performance of a supercar. But i guess he means that the GTr doesnt have the typical look
the low low stance, "pointy" front. I guess "sleek" would be the word

And Finally:

The GTR is a Coupe, not a sports car...
The WRX STI because the ultimate Nerd Machine when it arrived. Every nerd in IT who makes some dough owns one. Just look next time you drive by an STI. Guaranteed it's an IT nerd driving it. The GT-R will be the Head Nerd of IT's Car. So all his chronies will be driving STI's and the top geek a GT-R. Ultimate nerd machine with all its techno gadgets etc..
It's not a sexy car at all. I love the GT-Rs performance and nerdiness (I'm a techno geek lets get that straight) but I don't love the lines of the car. The 350Z is smooth and beautiful from any angle, the GT-R not so much.

Most sports cars have two doors... Don't know where to go with that.
I consider anything that can put numbers around the ring like the GT-R a sports car, dare I say entrance supercar?
Wat?!?
To each his own, but see it in person first, it is awesome!

Fellow Z-Drivers, even though I will be bent over and kicked in the **** a few times for saying this; the chap who posted and started this thread may sound like he's smoking the joint but I agree with him. The GT-R is an amazing machine, probably the best there is for the next 3 years until high market automakers such as Lambo and Porsche makes a Diablo 3x300Z5 or 911x54 or some-thing to that nature. With that said though, the GT-R is a G-35 coupe with madness boost and computer control.. I have had the chance to sit in one in CA as the driver took me around the block and in no way would I trade my Z for the GT-R. When you get in the inside of a Z, you know that it's a sports car. When you get in the inside of a GT-R, it feels like the USS Voyager from Star Trek. Just that it's a lot more sexy than Captain Janeway. Remember when the 300ZX came out? It dominated everything, Chevy was shivering its ***** out because it made the corvette look like a camery. I think Nissan would have been better off putting all the tech they had in the GT-R and upgrading the interrior to better quality and put it into the 350z rename it and call it the new SpecV 350z instead of the ugly Chrysler Crossfire look-a-like of the 370z coming out.
Like I said, I will be kicked in the **** by criticizing the new princess of the GT-R but I will take it like a man.

are you pretending to have driven a gtr just to keep your opinion validated?
