Only 12.5% with AWD would be pretty much unheard of. Pretty sure it is closer to the 520 mark. Trouble is, those things are tough to hook up to a dyno with the undercarriage sealed up as much as it is. Pretty sure some panels would need to be removed.

Exactly. I like the car, don't get me wrong but it's just not a sports car like the GT2.

We don't need a high performance sports car, it's been out already.. You can get one used for great price!

Why should it matter how many doors a car has, or what platform it's based on when talking about sports cars. You can argue all day long that it's not as light as a Lotus Exige, or have a roaster configuration. The car ran a 7.38" at Nurburgring what more do you want from the car. That course is designed to pick apart the tuning and setup of any car…. Spending too much time looking at the sheet metal of the car and the number of people it can transport.

Now given the car doesn't have the sex appeal of a high end Italian made car or even the wide low stance of an NSX, why try to give such a specific meaning to the title of sports car? In which case, build a 350Z and call that you Nissan "sports" car.

480 hp not enough? Twin turbo not enough? Super hot looks not enough? Maybe it's time
for you to consider a Maseratti, Lamborghini, Aston-Martin, etc. To me, the GT-R is a
dream-not-come-true! I waited y-e-a-r-s to get my "Z"! Guess it'll be many more yrs. to
MAYBE get a GT-R! Different strokes for different folks!

To all the other cars in its class. But this is IMO for my overall view. I still think they should have made it 6mt and with a little more power.

IMHO i think the GT-R is a great car, performance wise. i haven't had the privilege of driving one.. yet, so i will not comment on the drivability of the car. but again IMHO i think the car is very bland and will lose its identity in the sea of cars out there. seriously nissan, for that price tag, it could look a lot better.

I rather have a GTR over any of the "true sports cars" I have driven.

Since joining this forum, (over 6 years ago ) - I've owned and of course driven an 03 DB coupe, a black 03 EVO VIII, and now a black 07 C6 coupe.

(I had a black 350Z vert on order until Nissan told me they were laying me and all my friends/co-workers off, and I told them to keep the damned thing.)

The 350Z had the best shifter, and (arguably) the best interior, and it was plenty fast. It also weighed in at around the same as my vette (3200lb curb weight) - I always thought Nissan could/should have shaved a few pounds off of that.

The EVO had the best on-the-cheap mod potential, which I did, and was also quite fast, especially from a dig... and while the Z handled really well, the EVO was like it was ON RAILS. Plus it had a real back seat and a real trunk, etc. But it fell flat on it's face above 70mph. (Relatively stock, again.)

It also got the worst gas mileage of the 3, seeing as how it was right on the edge of being into the boost at 80mph on the highway, (5 spd with no cruise control) and if you sneezed/farted/coughed and TOUCHED the gas pedal, the turbo spooled up and the gas gauge went down...

I think the best I ever got out of that thing was around 17city/23hwy... suckiest gas mileage of any 4 banger, evarrrr!

The vette weighs less than either car, has WAY more room than the 350Z, and easily gets 30mpg cruising along in 6th on the highway @ 75mph... and the insurance is cheaper than both the 350Z OR the Evo, for me... seriously.

So, sorry for the off-topic rant, but I've been on this forum longer than just about anyone, and have lots of love for the 350Z - but when it comes to the GTR, it IS a super car, at an unbelievable price for what you get... but it's not really a "sports car".... The vette and the 350Z are sports cars. (Two seats, RWD, etc.)

I suppose someone could pull the AWD Lambos out of their asses, but they're EXOTIC sports cars, and the exception to the rule. (And they still only have two seats.)

The GTR is a GT (duh), as someone already mentioned.

That being said, I'd own one in a heartbeat - in fact, I'd have to think long and hard about choosing a GTR or a C6Z, all other things being equal... but I'd take the ZR1 without thinking twice.

Now I'll go back to my corvette forum, where I belong.

Peace, bitches.

Well then... Define Supercar.

Many purists define a supercar as a fast, very good performing vehicle that is so expensive as to price itself out of the range of ordinary drivers. Using that definition, a GT-R definitely is NOT a supercar.
