wasnt reading to closely to other comments but they have to prove without a doubt that the filter was the cause of the damage otherwise you covered under warranty if you still have it got a little confused reading lol

Many seem confused, normally a dealer will do any work or replace any part that Nissan warranty authorizes, otherwise up to you to pay or persuade Nissan to pay.
Only if you buy a new car from the servicing dealer does he have any extra obligation to you during the first year or 12,000 miles [the so called adjustment period].

Not a dumb question:
In service date is the date the car was sold as a brand new vehicle. The warranty clock starts from this point on.
