Correct me if im wrong but using the ebrake even if not parked on a hill keeps it tightened correct? Back when I had my Tundra you had to use it very often to keep the ebrake very tight. Everywhere I park with the Z I always use the ebrake no matter what and 47k miles later its still grabs strong.

Might want to start carrying a brick around and a via option to e-brake. I always use my e-brake and put it in gear. I don't have any problems of the cable loosening up. I do however do not use it on my other DD automatic. Probably should before anything bad happens.

A friend of mine left the e brake off on his DD Prelude the other night and it rolled across the street and backed into a tree. Smashed the rear bumper and trunk lid pretty bad. Your brother got lucky on this one.

had moments where I would just park, and the car starts slowly rolling backwards while the ebrake is up, and I barely notice, had some close calls to hitting parked cars behind me. :/

I'm looking to tighten the e-brake myself now and I know you're supposed to go in through the "ash tray" in the center console. I realize that this is specific to the older models but Even the service manual for the 06 has this same diagram so I assume its done the same way. Does anybody know how to get in through the compartment on the top of the center console? I would rather do it this way than taking off the whole center console but if that has to be done thats no big deal either.

Recently I pulled my e brake just to see how it feels and nothing happened. Mine must be busted too.
