Default Need Some Opinions On Show Car Presentation...

Just wanted to get some opinions here. On a show score sheet, there is a section for presentation, just as there is for interior or engine. Up to date, I have not invested in a show plaque. It's a custom made plaque on a tripod that beautifully list your current mods. However, presentation is everything, and there are points to be made in this section. I was contemplating displaying a few of my largest trophies next to the vehicle, in hopes of racking up a few additional points in the "presentation" category.

My question is, as a spectator or judge, would you see this as an eye catcher and potential point earner, or would you see it as a tacky way of bragging?

When I go to HIN or any other shows everyone who has won trophies have them proudly presented. I dont think its bragging, I think it shows that you have been active in several events. (and gives you something to talk about when judges ask you questions lol). If someone thinks your bragging they are most likely hating. just my .02

I would see it as you making mention that someone somewhere thought your ride was credible. I would not award you extra points for them so much as I would a hot chick rubbing the gear shift. Ya that 2nd parts a joke.

Plaques serve two purposes, list your mods and let others know what's modified that they can't see at the moment, (i.e. engine internals, suspension/links, specialty items, etc.).

If you have trophies, you have every right to brag, who cares......its helps enthusiasts appreciate your car more. It also helps reveal haters, which I can care less for

I have judged many Z car shows including the 2008 Midwest Z Fest. Previous awards do not come into the judging as you are evaluating the car as it sits THAT day. Our club has 3 judges per car (interior, exterior and engine) and we judge on completeness, cleanliness and condition.

In my personal opinion, I see stacking trophys as tacky. Let your ride speak for itself and detail the hell out of it.

Thank you for the insight. My team has always went the route of "Let your car speak for itself." It wasn't until this weekend that I've contemplated the trophy set-up. I'm currently driving to San Antonio for the IFO show. I'll be showing solo, but have always been accustomed to showing with 10-15 cars. I was hoping the "extra" presentation would serve 2 purposes. 1. Rack up a few points in the Presentation catagory. 2. Help me stand out from the competition, since I'm a lone wolf this weekend.

I do agree with what you said about "stacking trophies". It takes away from the vehicle when a competitor has a shrine of throphies stacked next to their vehicle. I was thinking more along the lines of just a few. Some of the trophies that were the hardest to place, like Nopi, IFO, and Falken Drift Show...

I dont know HIN is so questionable I think for someone to win on the East, you have to be in Team Emotion or sponsored!

I've only taken my Pantera to a car show and won just with the car itself. Never put out trophies or anything cause i believe what was already done won't matter right now.

A true judge won't care what you've won in the past, but truly judge your car at that time for that particular show as needed.

Besides i think having mad trophies all around the car kind of takes away from the car itself.
