Vette for Z
Slowhand, nice ride! That white looks awesome. I can see why your car gets the attention. Props to ya too for driving the 18-wheeler. I'd last about a day out there, as I would want to run over all the idots on the interstate (about every other car here in Ohio!)

I've owned both twice don't do it. now driving 05 z 6mt. both cars will turn heads and the z looks faster than it is but it's still quick and handles almost as well. but the c5 backs up it's bad a-- looks.when it's time to trade i'll go back to the c5. that being said i don't think there's 20 grand difference between both cars, sorry to ramble.

New to the forum. I have a 2002 C5 Corvette. I have always loved the 350Z, and am considering trading in my Vette for an '05 or '06 Z. The Vette is a cool car, and will really throw you back in your seat, and handle like a champ. I also have an '04 Murano, so I'm familiar with NISSAN's qaulity, style, and performance. I realize this is a stupid question, but does anybody have anything negative to say about the 350? I hear things like "new brakes and tires every 12K miles" - but I want to hear from the people who own these awesome cars. What is true and what isn't? Thanks!
I ended up leaving with an '06 Grand Touring Roadster that had 18k miles on it. I love the car. Is it a Corvette...not a chance. Is it a very very enjoyable car? Absolutely. The '09 vette and the '06 Z are both amazing vehicles. The vette has 436 hp and the Z has 300 hp...very different beasts.
I say get what you want and enjoy. The '02-'04 vettes are some of the most reliable (I put brake pads and tires on, plus oil changes in 97k miles of ownership)...but my '06 Z doesn't seem to be a maintenance hog either. I put pads on the front at 20k miles and the tires had just been replaced when I bought it.

I figured I'd add my experience here as well...
04 Vette Coupe
Pros
Gas milage, I've gotten low 30's in 6th on a long trip
Storage space
Powerful engine
Glass removable roof
Heads Up Display
Had lots of people admiring the car
Comfortable seats
Engine sound
Cons
Hard not to scrape the front end going into places
Finicky electronics
Not as "solid" as the Z
Just okay handling (which is different that what everyone else is saying but I had the coupe and not the Z06)
Will not move in a dusting of snow with the expensive stock Eagle F1's
03 Z Touring
Pros
Handling felt better then the vette to me
Reliability
Seats that would hold you in
Plenty of power to have fun
Exhaust sound
Cons
Not bad but not as good gas milage
No trunk space
As you will see in the pics neither were daily drivers for me. I had Acura's as DD's.
I would say each car was a lot of fun but I was always afraid of the vette breaking on me. Overall, I found the Z was more enjoyable.
As for now, I no longer have either car and I am saving up for the next toy. (911 C4S)

tire roar? that is a tire choice issue isn't it?
drive it and see if you like it. it's a low maintenance car, tires will last you 20k miles if not slightly more depending on what you get and how you drive, brakes do not go out that quick etc..
even a C5 vette is faster then a Z though.
