Concerned
Here's the situation:
I haven't been getting very good info from my dealer. However, I have been getting info from other sources. Those sources (very reliable) have told me that my car should be delivered in Jacksonville on Monday. Then it needs go through customs (etc) and then will be delivered to Tampa. I see some possible problems coming because I am going on vacaton, out of town for a week, beginning next weekend. There is a good possibility my car will be delivered while I'm gone. Here are my concerns:
1) I am concerned that the car could possibly be sold out from under me while I'm gone. Who's to say that a false claim isn't made that I cancelled my order. What proof does the dealer need to supply Nissan (or whoever) to be able to sell the car for a few grand over msrp?
2) I am concerned that the car may be used as a demo..or driven while I'm gone. Or that the dreaded front license plate is installed.
How can I prevent these things from happening?

I would recommend keeping tight tabs on your dealer. I heard some discouraging news today about the "rights" that dealers have to sell cars out from under their prospective pre-sale clients.
Not to ruin your vacation, but it might be in your best interests to ascertain a very precise delivery date and ensure that you (or someone who can act in your behalf) is around to receive the car.
