Liquid Aluminum Sighting
Hello,
I'm planning on purchasing a 2004 Enthusiast or Touring 350 Z. I went to the Grand Opening of Elk Grove Nissan in Elk Grove, CA to see what a LeMans Sunset Z looked like in person. I just happened to look at the window sticker of a 2004 touring and noticed the color was "Liquid Aluminum" for the additional price of $1,100.
At first glance, I thought it was a "Chrome Silver" Z. However, after comparing this with a "Chrome Silver" Z, it does look lighter silver in color, but not substantially. The cars were in the bright afternoon sun, so it may vary with the lighting. I didn't notice anything special about the actual paint - it looked to be of the same quality as the "LeMans Sunset" Z next to it.
Sorry if this is old news.
Future Z owner - hopefully

Um, that doesnt look any different from a CS. If that really is the LA color, then that $1100 extra is straight robbery. I was expecting more flair than that.
It looks like that dealership has a lot of convertibles.

That color is such a travesty! How many times is nissan going to dick out the people who pre order silvers? First, the CS owners were expecting the show car finish, and got denied. Then, the LA owners were expecting the show car finish, and once again got shut down. Nissan may as well release a color called "show car silver" and make it the same color as CS.
Some nissan paint designer definately needs to be spanked.

hi y'all.
elk grove nissan is the biggest nissan dealership in the sacramento valley in califonia. they just had a grand opening this weekend.
since it is a new dealership (well actually relocated from florin rd.) and it is a new faclility, they will have the biggest allocation of cars. they have i believe 10 convertibles and 10 hardtops.
it is a great dealership!

LA looks like a color that needs to be in the shade to really shine... like my siver stone.. in the sunlight with no shade it looks bright.. but in the shade / dawn .. you see a hint of blue / dark silver / dark grey / silver depending on the angle...

Anyway, from the picture, LA is a letdown, maybe you have to see it in person to appreciate it.
Also keep in mind all the pics you have seen of LA have been professional shots with perfect lighting and then doctored some more, that pic I put above of an LA obviously was taken with a blue filter, heres a shot my buddy, whos also a proffesional photog, took of a silverstone with a blue filter, silverstone!
he explained that silvers always look alot more rich with blue filters so just about any shot of a silver car you see uses it
