Default Gas Tank/Guage questions?

Last night while i was driving i went up a steep hill. the top came to a sharp peak and the car bottomed out near the seat area. it made a fairly loud noise. i checked underneath and all looked good. i drove to work the next day and back home and noticed that my fuel level was the same. i checked the DTE guage it said 244 when i left work. and the same when i got home. Fuel gauge is still the same after about 50 miles driving. could i have hit the fuel tank .. or a sensor??

do some more MAD driving and see if anythign changes... my fuel gauge is weird too, and i didnt hit it... once i fuel up it never goes up more then half way... then it takes a day or two of driving for the gauge to start showing accurate fuel level... i dotn think you would have such problem by bottoming out ... you should post a pic of that hill.. i have hard time imagining how steep or sharp peek point is.... =/

odd... my 06 shows the correct amount after fueling, i mean ya it fluxes depending on the driving and the roads.. I honestly think something is messed up if your waiting a day or two for accurate fuel readings.

Fuel sensor is located within the tank so you didn't hit that. Never heard of this problem though.

If the problem started right after you bottomed out then it would make sense to associate one with the other, but who knows. Immediately after I put in some audio equipment last weekend the check engine light came on. A few people on here had the same thing happen to them so I assumed that was the reason.

When I took it to the dealership it came back as a bad fuel sending unit and fuel sensor. Now I have no clue what those are but the guy said that some people notice their fuel level gauge sticks or never goes above a certain point after fill up.

Just take it to a shop and have them check it out.

Like mentioned above, just take it to a shop. usually it is free to get it looked at and free to fix if you are still under warrenty... we can assume things all day every day but it sounds like a manufacture error that you just happened to unlock when you skided your gas tank... I doubt the manufacture ever thought their car would do that...

I have had a problem like that with my Z. On mine though I would have 3/4 tank and all of a sudden it drops to Empty and the gas light would turn on. At first I thought someone siphon my gas but when I turned off the car and turn it back on it would read correctly. This kept happening for about 2 weeks and all of a sudden it stoped. It was really wierd and I wasnt using cheap gas or anything under 91. I still do not know what was going on with the car but its working fine now.
