I too have the same key problem as treble except its's on the key fob. It's cracked pretty good on the back side from being dropped.

The dipstick is one of the things I really don't like about the car..I have an 06. I also don't like that we have to wait a minute or so to get a reading of the oil.

1. the price of modding unless your willing to drop over 5k youll never get much more power out of the car
2.it takes me 10 mins to check my oil level because getting the dipstick in seems to be a task for the most patient of people
3.the car makes a lot of noises and everytime I hear one I cant tell if somethings ****ed or my car just wants to be loud that day
4.it seems the fabricators at Nissan found a way to make every part they could as heavy as possible
5. the lack of any progression among the new models. its been almost 12 years now and the 370z really lacks updates, the power is comparable they did nothing in reference to the weight issue. for the z to be such a beast when it came out im really unsatisfied with how little they have progressed it over the years. meanwhile cars like mustangs are coming out with models that are putting out way more power and options that make the previous seem like childs play

That some members have picked up 350zs for $3,800 when I paid nearly 10Xs that price.

I'll say that comparing the mustangs power these days is pointless. Mustangs have *never* made decent power for the engines they had.

Only in the last 5 years or so have they started putting out power on a level where you think, yeah, that's about how much that size engine should make

The other problem (don't forget) is that emissions and safety/equipment requirements have been massively increasing and making cars heavier for years

the mustang was just an example but nobody can deny that Nissan has really lacked impressiveness with updating the vq engine it just seems that if im going to pay mid 40's for a 370 why wouldn't you get one of the many cheaper more modable cars that are on the market these days.

Yeah, i think they need to follow everyone else now and add a turbo. Advances in computers and manufacturing means that turbos are excellent for reliable power and fuel savings.

yes and no at the ****ing insane price they are charging for the 370 I cant help but think that theyd jack the price up even more. as much as I love my z I wouldn't pay high 40's for it even if it was turboed. hopefully if they do turbo it they keep the 3.7l setup and don't do what every other car maker is doing and knock it down to a 2.0 turbo, I forget where but I was reading that they were considering doing that which in my eyes is moronic because it knocks your power right back to where you started.

You'd end up with an interesting thing there, same power, way less fuel used, i'd hope they'd compromise.

The problem they'd have with keeping the same displacement and turboing it, is that the fuel consumption when you get on it would be insanely impractical

honestly as long as it got something like 18/24 I wouldn't be too mad but if they can engineer 5.0 v8's that get the same gas mileage as a 3.7l v6 id like to think they could think of a way to make a 3.7l turbo atleast somewhat compareable. I think the issue is they have the technology but with bumping up a z to a turbo putting out anywhere near or over 400hp they are worried about cutting into the gtr profit because if they did that at anything around 40-45 people would switch due to the 70k price gap making it easy to boost the z suspension and have a compareable car for way less.

granted youd still have a lot of people that want a gtr because its a GTR but theres no denying anyone that is a pure enthusiast would obviously take the z because the saved money would be more then enough to crank that z up to an insane level.

Not to mention it would most likely be way lighter than the GTR. I think if they went with a 6 cylinder, 3.0 liter, twin turbo engine with around 300-315whp stock and under 3100 pounds it would be a solid platform to replace the NA 3.7 liter engine. That would be one hell of a car in my opinion. Lighter than the base 03 350z, more power than any of the previous Z cars, better power and tuning capalities without major engine upgrades thanks to factory forced induction, but not too powerful out the box to steal sales from the GTR. If they could make it look moderately good I'd be interested.

Is your release point really high too?

My dealer was like yeah it has to be replaced because it's too high. I'm like that's how the z is!

Is the interior scratching problem more of an 06+ issue?
My 03 interior is flawless with no scratches. I noticed the window switch trim piece isnt painted like 06+ so even if it scratches it wont show.

I recently picked up 06 door panels and yeah those are scratched :/. I even switched out the vent part with my 03 panels because they were mint.
