For show or go?
So being a 2-month old owner of my Z and having read the forums on a somewhat consistent basis, I was curious...
When you bought your Z did you buy it for mainly for speed, making it fast, racing or did you buy it mainly for the looks, appearance? I know a lot of you have gone twittled around with both but whats more important to you with your Z?
Personally, I bought my Z mainly for it looks and felt that the performance was a bonus...curious what most of you guys felt...

B <--- was me, loved the look of the new Z back at the 2002 autoshows in the lighter than lemans sunset gold color, was sold at the first test drive, they just gave me & wife the keys and said curvy roads are that way... SOLD
A <-- is me now, cause first i found autocrossing and now track at sebring... still SOLD
[maybe the nismo 370z, it's calling, but i like NO car payments!! and the Z still looks new... what to do...]

i've always wanted a Z. the looks on the car is a def. head turner and the handling makes it an excellent car to track stock.
I wish it was a bit faster stock. my stg. 3 9-3 was a bit faster down low and 100+ even more, but this is soon to change.
I would definitly have to choose Go over Show.

Voted.
I went show first...got sick of staring at my money pit and collecting trophies...then decided Im going to drive the pi$$ out of it whenever I can. Cross country, track, drift...It's still pretty...just not perfect and I enjoy it a lot more.

I voted for looks/appearance because I got it because I loved how it looked. I like the comfort for it being a 2 seater. I like the interior...especially because of the Burnt Orange leather. I love the black color, paint shines so well for being a 2003.
For granted I was 100% sold on it after I test drove it. The handling and the sporty feel was incredible to me...so I guess that is some performance. It is plenty fast out of the box for me right now, so I'm not too worried about adding go-fast goodies.
If I wanted fast, I would have kept my Stage 2 protuned STI which could run a quarter mile in 12 seconds...

Baught the car because it looked oh so sexy.
Im a ricer all the way...All show and no go for me...I'll spend $15k for visuals and sound before performance for the most part.
sound system, rims, suspension, body kit, exhaust, intake, headers, BBK, and Im happy. Its my Daily driver so I couldnt take advantage of a turbo or Super charger even if I wanted.

you can get away with cheap mods like intake/exhaust and like most people, will be content. ive spent more $ on looks thus far than performance (mainly because of the rims). im in school for automotive engineering & design, so im 100% down for show!!! though you cant beat the sound of a TT kit spooling
still say show 1st... how often are you going to be racing??

I raced my STI quite a bit...2 weekends a month or so at least...
I can honestly say I did buy the STI when I did 3 years ago, 100% for performance and go, not show...But I did get some show with it because I bought the Limited which had leather interior, sunroof, hypersilver color Enkei rims, front lip, and rear trunk lip spoiler (no park bench!). I got all this at dealer invoice price, so I couldn't turn down the show/creature comforts

Why do the two always have to be separate? I think the Z can look amazing AND perform well. Granted, I think body kits and lambo doors on a Z are like giving Superman down syndrome, but you can still do appearance mods that don't hinder performance.
My take on it is show usually involves adding more and the go usually means adding less. More is usually less unless youre talking displacement, psi or n2o.
Appearance mods = weight & more drag, dare I say little to no performance gains are found in a body kit. Don't tell me you need the winglets for your 160mph track runs or the wide body kit for extra traction around corners
The only thing I couldn't handle was the stock sounds system, had to add a few extra lbs in speakers to hear the tunes over the engine note.
