Default GTIs and WRXs

So two of my buds have some quick cars and are dying to shut my Z down. I'm not really talking about street racing or anything like that, just acceleration on the highway and whatnot.

One has an '02 1.8T GTI with catback, GIAC flash, and intake (think that's all for the powertrain).

Other has an '02 WRX (which I actually sold to him) with running 285hp at the crank with a turboback exhaust and stage 2 COBB flash.

How will I stack up against these two? Sorry for such a hypothetical question I'm just bored.

Well that fits the definition of street racing. Go to the dragstrip. Post a time slip. Show us your skills.

Yeah I don't even know where the nearest drag strip is around me. I live by the King of Prussia mall. Also I'm a little nervous of risking my DD at the track. If something goes wrongs... I have no backup so to speak.

I actually just did some highway pulls with my friend's 1.8T GTi. It depends heavily on his boost level. Forget the rest of his mods, if he has a controller and he pushes past 11 psi, he'll walk away from you. Otherwise, stock boost, you should put car lengths on him.

i used to be a vw guy so as far as the vw is concerned i highly doubt he will beat you, the wrx also has much more drive train loss than you,( u guys should have similar crank hp) plus he has a small turbo, and i doubt his car will have the same top end as ur z.

Lol. 285 crank hp? No one cares about crank hp. All that matters is what's being put down at the wheels. 285 crank hp seems a little on the weak side considering he's gone stage 2. Regardless, on a WRX 285 crank hp comes out to around 200 hp at the wheels. Given that the DE Z puts out similar crank hp, but only experiences half the drive train loss you're gonna be in the more powerful car. Even more powerful if you're in a HR Z. And if you're doing highway pulls as you say you are, a stock Z should easily walk away from it, regardless if it's a DE or HR Z. WRX has NO top end.

Regarding the VW, I know absolutely nothing about them.

So, let me get this straight. You're afraid of something going wrong at the track, but you are fine doing similar things with your car on the street?

Please take your racing to the proper place. The track.

You're just a poser if you're doing pulls on the highway. Hit the strip and post some times.

Highway pulls are alot different than launching and redlining at the track, I'm assuming (as far as beating on the car goes)

Ahh, so you're worried about a little engine and tranny wear, but not crashing your car and injuring you, your friends or innocent bystanders. I see.

Seriously, go to the track. A few launches won't kill your baby.

The closest track would be Atco or Pocono. Atco is like 1 hour away.

OP,

threads about street racing are forbidden. please review the TOU before you break anymore rules and end up with a time out.

be a grown up and take it to the track, where it belongs.
