Lets see....
20 gallon tank minus (your 15 gallons to fill up) = 5 gallons of gas left over when you are in the E ZONE.
Assuming you get 20 MPG, then 5 gal x 20 mpg = 100 miles!
you drove 95 miles, so 100 miles minus (your 95 miles) = 5 miles left over!
You should have driven the extra miles dude!
hahahaha...I am just messing with you...But seriously...did you really want to push it driving 95 miles while on "empty"? haha..you are gonna be THAT GUY who is on the side of the road 'cause they ran out of gas. lolz.

Man you should never really drive on E unless you absolutely have to. Only reason i say this is because w/e crap is inside of your take will get sucked up into the pump and either clog it or its pre filter. If it goes past that then it will clog the inline fuel filter. (not on Z)
but i did drive my shop truck once about 85 on fumes!

My best is about 225 with the light on. The gas gauge in the Z sucks.

+1 on the Z being able to drive many miles after the "E" light comes on...

If you've ever taken out the FP you can see that the float stops dropping at a certain point but the tank still goes deeper down. The pump itself is still submerged while the float reads EMPTY!
I always thought about extending the float a lil more to gain that advantage of not being scared to run out.
**** as i am though i never let her go down past 3/4's.

0 Because I am not an idiot. When its less than a quarter or sooner I fill up. Wouldn't you hate to get an emergency call and have to hop in the car to race x miles somewhere only to run out of gas? I like to be prepared, my g/f does not and it drives me nuts!

And as far as never letting it get that low because it will suck up crap in the tank - I never bought that. That would infer that all that crap is floating at the top of the tank, and it seems to me it would be sinking to the bottom to begin with. Not only that but I have dropped a few tanks in my time to replace fuel pumps, and never saw any crap in the tank to begin with, and these were some older, high mileage cars.

I see no point of driving and testing to see where I will be stranded. I'm sure you will have to pump out all the air in your fuel line. It's probably an easy process, but why bother with it when you can fill it up. Also filling half or 3/4 is much easier on the pocket than a full tank. I've done it before on my other car to see if it can go more than 400 miles on a tank. Found out that it does go well over it, but I have to trek about 1 mile each way to fetch gas. Oh, also had to buy their cheap plastic gas tank to fill it up so that I can pour it in my car. In the end, it cost me more to do that than to just pump $5 to keep it going.

It goes on for a while. Ran on the highway one time for what seemed like forever (45 minutes to an hour) with the light on. Was late for a Dane Cook concert.
Filled up afterwards and put OVER 20 gallons in... Im guessing i pushed it about as far as physically possible.

one time i got lost and the DTE readout went flat. I ended up on the toll way and couldn't get off. right when the gas light lit up, i reset the trip meter and was able to drive for about another 40 miles.
so now i am less paranoid when the gas light comes on b/c I know I have at least 40 miles to go find gas.
if you know you have to pour gas anyway, might as well plus now then later b/c driving on E is highly not recommended.
