Oh boy the vette fan boys are hurt because their car isn't as reliable.

Shouldn't you be hitting the track? From what I hear, you are close to breaking into the 15's...

If they make it to 160k. I have one with 180k sitting in storage due to issues.

Many Z cars or other Nissans for that matter have made it way past 160k without needing anything.

this has been discussed so many times it makes my head hurt.. the vettes are very realiable especially
C5's and above, they got great reviews and more importantly people with real life experience agree, and thats all that should matter

... it has its share of annoying problems but so does the Z...

there are guys on the vette forum spraying 150 shots on C5's with 150,000 miles on them.... I just broke 110,000 miles on mine going strong... this is such a fking stupid argument it makes my head hurt...

both cars a reliable, and both cars have their respective problems...give it a rest already.. (this is directed at everyone in the thread, not just you btw)

Really? That doesn't seem true in the Corvette club that I am part of.

fair enough, I am going off of the comments on the forums, my own experience(110K on the clock, daily driven, 50+ track passes), and the vette guys around here... also my freinds with Z's have had a hell of alot more problems with their cars than I have with my vette

C4 since 1988, my own experience for 180k miles.

C5 and above......Roofings flying off (c6), rear diffs failing, engines using oil, need I say more? Because the list gets bigger.

My Z = 0 problems and 2 years 2 momnths

LOL come on man I can list just as many problems with Z's as well,, oil consumption, tire feathering...slave cylinder issues.. clutch sticking to the floor.......especially since you are looking at several different years... certain years with both cars had certain problems...

and the rear diffs on the C5's dont fail.. some of the seals are weak and they leak... the dont fail.. oil consumption was only certain 01 models due to ring flutter when the car was consistently above 4k rpm...just like you could say the oil consumption was only appliable to Z's with rev up motors.. and on that note oil consumtion for C5's is nowhere near as bad as he infamous rev-ups... two of my friends had their engines replaced...

sooo like I said before both cars have their fair share of problems but overall both are reliable.. give it a rest... you are not going to buy another vette and I am not going to buy a Z...

but for someone that is deciding... both cars are pretty relaible with certain known problems.. thats the point...

As I've mentioned in other posts/threads: CR's April Auto Issue. All you gotta do is enter www.consumerreports.com and verify the data, dudes. The "put up or shut up" bit is nil, due to the fact that I don't have to prove anything to anyone. My own experience tells
a story: I've owned GMs, Fords (no Dodges/Chryslers, though!), Toyotas, Mazdas & Nissans. Bottomline: Japan gives free quality/reliabilty lessons to Detroit! It's a known fact of life. Period.

I have actually had more problems with my 03 350Z than my 06 C6. My 350z has had tire feathering issues, window grease streaks, my Bose amp had to be replaced, and I have had liftgate latch issues. Many of these were recalled items. The only issues I have had with my C6 is that when I first got it the battery went dead and a creaking top. Turns out the battery had a bad cell and it was replaced under warranty. The top is another issue. Nothing I've done seems to fix that issue long term. And I know the Z is three years older, but it was also made in the first year of 350Z production.

That being said I still feel like my Z overall is a better made vehicle than the Vette. It just has a more quality feel to it. Long term I expect it will be a better vehicle.

Exceptions don't create patterns. The patterns/satatistics are that U.S.-made cars are subpar on the reliability department (most of them). In this year's April Auto Issue of CR, Zs are rated as "Much Better Than Average". Now go check the Vette record for yourself. I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP. Sowy.

You are making this all up. I posted several links showing vettes and 350Z's have almost identical reliability records (both score well). You refused to acknowledge the links provided and refuse to provide any of your own to indicate otherwise.

You made a claim yet show nothing to back up that claim. You are a flat out liar.

Just look at how many people with 350z's on this forum have had to replace transmissions. There are plenty who are on their 2nd and even 3rd transmission with less than 50k mi.
That is a much more significant reliability issue than any Corvette I've heard of.

And oil consumption issues in the Vettes...are you serious?
That was only on the 01 Z06s and wasn't as bad as on the Revup 350z's...

Like I said, most of the issues with the Vette's are minor DIY fixes. And most of these issues were recalled by Chevy... At least Chevy owns up to their problems and fixes them.

MSN Auto has both at high reliability from 2004 on with the Z at a slight edge in 2003.
