2008 Z > 12 year old vette any day...easier on gas and repairs. I love the vette but the first two reasons would convince me right away..well u bieng younger and having your parents support still might make a difference. It doesnt even have to be a Z that you get. In the same price range I would take a used evo9 or even the genesis coupe.

Not exactly. It really Depends on the context. I have both a 350Z and a C6. My Corvette certainly has more power and torque and therefore accelerates faster. It's also slightly lighter, but it costs more. The Corvette is more of grand tourer. It's long wheelbase makes for a good ride but it's a detriment to handling and turning when compred to the Z. The Corvette also doesn't have as good an overall feel as the Z does. The steering is less precise, almost vague, the shifter is no where near as precise and the OEM runflats suck. In my opinion the Z is much more of a driver's car. When I want to go out and tear up a back road I almost always choose the Z over the Corvette.

The Corvette has excellent gas mileage on the highway. 30 mpg is not uncommon as long as you keep your right foot out of it. That really does seem to surprise people, but it shouldn't. The car weighs 3,200 pounds and in 6th gear turns less than 1,800 rpm at 70 mph.

The Z is amazing in every aspect other than monster torque and overall hp stock to stock. The vette will hand the Z its behind every time in stock form between these two cars (ones in my garage that is).
With mods the Z can be very quick and so can the vette.
As far as fit and finish...both are comparable other than in ONE area...the Z has 100% better paint!
I love both cars and I realize they are two very different cars. Wouldn't trade either!

Vettes & Zs are both Sports cars, but they belong in different categories, 'cause of essential distinguishing characteristics. A V8 versus a 6-cylinder; raw power/performance versus refined performance; above all, it's a reliability issue. GM has an abysmal reliability record, while Nissans have gotten better & better with time. According to the last Auto Issue of CR, Honda, Toyota, Nissan & Subaru are the most reliable vehicles on the road at present. So, if you're willing to sacrifice some of the raw power I mentioned, GO FOR THE "Z", dude!

So I've owned a C5 and now I own a 03 6spd 350Z...
I do miss the power of the C5 and the only issues I had with the car were just minor headaches that were DIY fixes. The car had 158k mi on it too when I sold it.
Now the C6 is much more refined than the C5. I have a good friend with an 06 C6 and we went to a local AutoX a few weeks back. I was in my 350Z and he took his C6. I know the C6's handle well but I thought on the tight AutoX course I would surely have an advantage. Well, he let me drive his C6 for a lap. I was very surprised. The car actually seemed to have less understeer and I could always get the nose pointed where I wanted it to go, unlike my 350Z. The Vette also seemed to brake better. Maybe this was because I felt my ABS on the 350Z was way to sensitive and kept interfering under hard braking.
Now, the first thing I noticed about the C6 after immediately getting out of my 350Z was that the steering did have that numb feeling to it. It didn't seem to provide that feedback through the wheel like the 350Z does. Regardless, it still seemed to perform better and this "numbness" didn't effect anything.... It just had a different feel then what I was used to.
Now, this isn't my first time driving a C6, I drove one from Washington State to Texas in Dec. of 2006. This included a nice drive down HWY 1 in California. So I knew the C6's handled well. It was just interesting being able to drive a C6 immediately after my 350Z on an AutoX course and being able to feel the difference between the 2 cars.

Reliability isn't good for Vettes only if you drive like it is stolen. Like any car, if you drive a lot and drive carelessly, it will lessen the car.
