Never2Fast,
I don't spent much (barely any) time over on this forum, you'll find me over at corvetteforum, under a different name. I currently have both an 2008 350Z and a new C6 corvette. Neither of these cars are super cheap to work on, especially at your age. The 350Z is a probably a better car for your age than the vette, but (for fear of being flamed...wait I'm never over here so I shouldn't care) have you considered a newer mustang. Nice V8 RWD, it's a hog in the weight area, but there cheap to work on, like real cheap in comparison to the 350 or the vette. Just a consideration.
I had a mustang when I was your age, and it was great, cause I could afford to fix it and work on it with the income of a 17 year old. I couldn't imagine trying to fix my vette back then, a radiators like a whole months pay check for that age...lol.

When I was about that age, I looked at a 93 Mustang Cobra. It was nice looking, great sound, bada*s! $14k back then, but probably $5k now. My neighbor had an 86' GT with the indented headlights that he let idle every morning. It was awesome. A few friends had the late-80s GTs and a few had the early 90s LX (that looked like the earlier GTs). These were the lighter of the Mustangs. Like Matt said, easy and cheap to mod.

Guys i had thought about a mustang for a while... they are cheap to work on, fix, and customize. But almost every single teenager has those, especially the dumb *** ones that don't know jack S&#t about cars. Anyway i went and looked at this 350Z today.,..OMG i was extremely surprised, i absolutely love the daytona blue

and i loved the interior. It was super clean, nice aftermarket DVD/MP3 player in dash, killer subs in the back.
Nice black with chrome lip rims.
48,000 miles
and we might possibly be able to do a straight trade for the vette
And the nos thank in the back is just for show. I asked one of the mechanics there and he said when they inspected the intake plenums and etc, he said there weren't any signs of the nos injection. I forgot to ask but i think it has a purge switch for the front grille.

$20k is way steep. As a point-of-reference, my local buddy bought an 06' with 5000 miles on it two years ago for $20k. Make sure you do your homework at edmunds.com to get a fair value. Since I doubt you get the stock stereo, wheels, etc., those upgrades really don't count as upgrades for the pricing. The angry eyes on the head lights reduce the value by $50 though.
when i go back with my mechanic we are going to check out the tank to be sure, along with other stuff (possible of the burning oil 06 issue).
And if if they do trade me straight up it would be a real steal. KBB value of a 97 vette with my mile, trade in 11,500, pp, 13,500, sr 15900. then i did that Z, trade in 16,625, pp 19480, 22500. So the vette really aint worth what you might have thought.

I give you credit for coming to the forum to educate yourself first! I think the biggest worry we all have for the young guys is you guys going over the top with "Not So Smart" mods.
Read through the forum and learn the culture of being a Z owner. Remember NO CHROME lol.
The early models eat front tires because of alignment issues. As crazy as it sounds, for some reason every Z I have owned the CD's stop playing one by one (six disk in-dash changer)??? and I have owned three... an 03, 04, and 05. Save and get something with low miles.
I see your in Naples - Buy the Roadster (of course, I am a biased Roadster owner). There is something about hearing your car with the top down.
Before the Z I always had American muscle cars, I switched and never looked back. Much more realiable as well as more fun to drive. If you want to go fast in a straight line stick to the domestic muscle. If you want to enjoy the road get a Z.
My best friend has a new vette... I always enjoy picking him up at the dealer when sh*t doesn't work on it.
Good luck

Couldnt agree more with no chrome, never had it on any of my cars, i more go and less show...
But i gotta disagree with the roadster, i cant stand convertables, sorry just not my thing
And your very correct about picking your friend up from the dealership. Hahaha
