Delivery in 45 days on Z's??

I'm hoping some folks can help shed some light on this, I just spoke with Freeman Nissan in California. They swore up and down that next week they will be able to put a custom order into the plant in Japan and have it delivered within 45 days, guaranteed! I was suspicious, so I talked to a couple of other dealers in the area and they told me this was bogus, so I called NNA in Gardena. They told me it didn't sound right and that delivery of a Z from Japan alone takes at least 3 months. It sounds almost too good to be true, is this dealer totally full of BS?
Thanks in advance for any information!

I would say that 45 days is very optimistic since preorder people will be taking delivery as far as November, I would say the quickest would be 2 months with up to 3 months depending on when order goes in.

hehehe, I suppose if I could cut in line I would
no, actually I totally respect those that have waited so long for these cars, congrats to all the new Z owners!
Another question, has anyone even heard of new factory orders beginning within the week? They told me orders will start on Thursday of next week (9/5).

I ordered July (non pre-order) here in Canada and they have confirmed that I have October production. So, that equates to 60-90 days from time of order to delivery.
Now, I'm sure that this depends on the allocations that the dealers receive for the Z's as well. I'm not fully "literate" on that topic though. But it seems like every time I talk to dealer-boy I get a little bit more information each and every time. It'll take 6-8 weeks from the time it hits the production line to get to port.

Hmmm, on Feb 2, I ordered from Freeman Nissan in Santa Rosa, which is probably the same Freeeman you are referring to since you are also from the Bay Area.
I am currently expecting my car in October (last checked at beginning of August). I was shown a list of pre-orders, some with deliveries in Sept, some in October, and one in November.
Since 45 days is mid October, I would be surprised if they could get one to you that quickly, unless the paperwork I saw has become out of date and the delivery on those pre-orders has been pulled in. Maybe they meant that they could get production started in 45 days, instead of a delivery in that time.
It would be nice if they were correct about the delivery, cuz I sure would like to get my car sooner than October. Maybe it's time for another call to the dealership!

D'oh & u235,
There's only one Freeman Nissan in good old Santa Rosa. My dealer too. Was just there today. 4 Z's arrived this morning(their first delivery). None cancelled that they know of.
45 day delivery is BS for sure. I believe they are right about being able to place new orders starting September but what NNA told you for delivery 90 days sounds right. Like D'oh mine is also due in Oct. (originally Sept.) probably because of this chip shortage scenario. I ordered in January (first one).
D'oh: Don't bother to call the dealer about any changes. I saw the report last Friday and there don't seem to be any changes.
Also are you coming up Sunday for the ZONC mini-gathering at the dealer this Sunday? I just heard about it Monday. According to Marty the Sales Mgr. the car they will have is one of the pre-production cars but we won't be allowed to get inside.

Saw 3 Z's today at my dealer, 1 chrome, 1 solverstone and 1 red. None are mine .. of course. The interesting thing he said that after his allotment of 9 pre sold cars, they will not see another for 120 days minimum.

Went to Stevens Creek Nissan tonight to check out the Chrome Silver with frost interior. I ordered charcoal grey but after seeing the frost I think I made a mistake
In any case, I asked the dealer for an ETA on my car which I ordered on the last day of preordering (6/10/02). He said to expect deliver on or around November 14th and also said it was too late to request to change the charcoal to frost since my car was already in production i.e. production is greater than 45 days.
The car I saw tonight was for sale since the person who had pre-ordered backed out of the deal. The dealer would only consider selling me the car with a $7K markup over MSRP! No thanks...I don't like the frost leather that much!
