Default Is this a problem?

I have an 04 enthusiast and whenever I shift, down or up the rpms go up to at least 3000 then back down to whatever it should be. Is this something I need to worry about?

so to clarify....if coasting...you shift, and before getting back on the gas...the car revs up to 3k...

No say when I'm going from 4th to 5th and my rpms are already low they will go up once I let off the clutch and gas it then they will go back way down. And I think I'm losing torque bc of this problem.

Sounds like your clutch is slipping.

If it's the clutch how much would it cost to fix it?

You shift at, say, 3,000 RPM, and the RPM goes UP to 6,000 RPM?

Depends on Clutch and if you have to most likely replace your Flywheel.

How to check slipping clutch:

6th gear at 60 MPH
Step on gas
Does engine RPM jump but car will not accelerating? If yes the clutch is slipping.

The clutch disc is not holding the flywheel. The disc may be replaceable. But the majority of members go with a new clutch and flywheel at the same time.

Might as well go aftermarket because the dealership will charge you $1,400 for an OEM flywheel.

I bought the JWT stage 2 clutch and lightened flywheel from a vendor on this site for $700 I think. I would recommend that route.
