Lightbulb How to fight improper colored light ticket?

Give me a break! I got a ticket because my parking light had a white/blue LED wedge bulb in there instead of the stock yellow/clear bulb. That light serves zero function. You can't see the light during the day and at night its gets drowned out by the lowbeams so its not a distraction to oncoming drivers. Any thoughts on how to get around this?

the parking light is "white", meaning yellow, but tech white.

did you put a BLUE LED in there?

if so your screwed, if not your still screwed but VERY suprising that he would ticket you for it.

not aware of any of the LED bulbs being street legal.

should be a fix-it ticket no? I say pay $10 and save the hassle trying to fight it off.

If it's a repair order(which is what I got a long time ago for the same thing) then all you do is put the stock bulb back in and go to any police station and have them sign off on it and then they enter it into their system and off you go...there shouldn't be any fine or costs associated w/it...

Blue lights are illegal, front or back in any state. I have seen these turn signals, they could be mistaken for a police car. Jeopardizes all other vehicles out there and could quite possibly cause an accident, hence people thinking you are running code, could mistake it for an unmarked car.

Change the bulb and see how that goes, but if that doesn't work, just pay the fine.

BTW, you don't have a Z do you, cause I would like to know what other ricey accessories you have?

Actually I think in New York blue lights are not illegal but red lights are. Police have red lights in New York. I know someone who is a EMT in New York and he has blue strobe lights mounted on his Honda Pilot.

I _think_ blue lights are illegal in NY. You better double check that before installing any blue lights.

In fact, I think some of the "light color laws" are DOT specs and thus federal law regardless of local specifications.

front turn signals and side markers must be white or amber, rear side markers must be red and rear turn signals must be amber or red. Blue, green and red are illegal anywhere else on the car in all 50 states.

How do I know if its a "fix it" ticket? Will it say something different than a regular ticket? I wasn't even speeding or anything. Just pulled out of a restaurant and my V1 picked up the pig instantly. Just drove past him at speed limit. He followed me for about a mile before putting his lights on. Right as I was about to cross the border into my town.

And NO, it is not the turn signal. It is the clearance light. The G has a vertical strip of light similar to the Z. You can see what I am talking about in the picture. But my car is blue so it matches for a nice accent and not rice look IMO. Granted, its still a blue light in the front, but its no where near as offensive as those LED washer fluid nozzles.

That sure does look blue to me. I am a cop, oh wait, a pig, and you know what, I would pull you over and with your attitude towards cops, you would def. get a ticket. I have no sympathy for you. You broke the law, SO PAY THE TICKET!

BTW, your car looks white in the picture.

Oh damn! I didn't realize you were there when the cop pulled me over and I was being inconsiderate and rude, while giving the officer lip. What was I thinking answering all of his questions with "sir" at the end.

Glad to know you aren't color blind, but you still might want to get your eyes checked out.

I don't know why you're making such a big deal out of this.

You've ADMITTED you've got blue lights on your car. Regardless of where it's located and what function it serves, my understanding is that they're illegal to have on your car, plain and simple. What will be your defense if you intend on fighting the ticket? That the lights aren't actually blue?

Regardless of what illegal things other people are doing to their cars (dark tint, blue/green/whatever colored lights, lame riceboy accessories, etc.), you were caught, and you were ticketed. Doesn't make you any less guilty than the other people, and just because other people do it doesn't give you a right to not get ticketed for it.

Nope sorry I wasn't there, but your kind words referring to the cop or all cops for that matter as (PIGS)> disturbs me and other fellow law enforcement personnel. Free speech, you can say what you want, but you are not getting my sympathy. PAY THE TICKET AND QUIT CRYING.

We all have our opinions in this forum, I am stating mine but I don't respect people that call cops by that name.

AND YES BTW, your car does look white in the PICTURE. I am sure 99% of this forum would agree also.

The picture below your car is blue though.

I agree with you AFR0Puff. Sucks that you got the ticket. Don't these cops have crime to fight or something? Of course not....
IMO, seems like all these cops went to the same **** class 101.

yup sorry man, no way outa that, I thought maybe you were talking about the parking light which is supposed to be white(tho of course bulbs are yellow white) and you put a white LED.

but that is sposed to be amber, no other color but amber.

sorry, no way outa that unless its a fix it ticket, then you could fix it, and then put it back after they ok it.

but nope now you just gotta pay for it.

I'll agree it's pretty rediculous to get pulled over and ticketed for a blue light. I could maybe see the cop tacking it on to a speeding ticket because you were being an a-hole to him. I certainly understand your frustration. Probably not worth fighting. Unfortunatly it's stuff like this that gives people a bad impression of law enforcement. Hence the unfortunate pig refference. Most of them are good people and have better things to do.

Again, IMO...why don't cops stop being so arrogant. I see cops breaking the same laws that us regular people do. Ex: cutting people off, flashing lights for no reason, going over 80mph on 60 limit, etc...

So what's the big deal over a white/blue light.

Not making a big deal about this. Just trying to look for a loophole, such as this fix it ticket deal. There are umpteen thousand people with illegally tinted windows who have not had to pay due to a loophole.

Zand02max, didn't mean to offend you with the pig comment. I was very polite and courteous with your fellow officer and the whole incident took less than five minutes. My pig comment was due to my frustration with that particular officer. Was it really necessary to follow me for a mile at 15mph and then put the lights on within inches of another town/jurisdiction? Didn't even get a "have a nice night" or an escort for me to pull back onto the road.

In my picture post, I mentioned that it was was not of my car.
