Default Is it me or does the G35 exhaust sounds louder?

Everytime i see a G35 pass by, their exhaust tone *seems to be louder........
Is it me or does the Z and G35 suppose to have the same loudness?

I've heard it before too, but I thought it was a G driver just revving a little more than usual when they see me in the Z (camaraderie or competition, don't know?).

Actually when Road&Track reviewed the G35 coupe and the 350Z. The Z has a higher decibal then the G35 at full throttle.

Could be that the sound is better heard from behind. Ever drive in a tunnel or next to a wall and floor it? You'll hear the difference.

On a side note, I've seen G35's with both dual exhausts like ours and single dual outlet exhausts. What's the difference? Motor?

That's just the G trying to keep up with your Z.

G35 with dual exhaust are the coupes while the sedan gets the single dual outlet.

I think you guys are right. I love the exhaust note the G and Z produce. Every time I drive past one, or up to one, i shut off my radio and lower my windows so I can hear what it sounds like from another car. I notice it more on the G.

That being said when I drove an hour + with 15 Zs all together, it all sounded the same. I think it may have to do with the Automatic vs Manual. An automatic doing 50mph will most likely be revving higher than a MT doing 60.

Nah, I never feel that the G35's exhaust is as loud as my car because I have the Nismo exhaust. I just get envious stares from G35 drivers whenever they hear my car.

the G35 likely has a bit more sound proofing, so it would sound quieter in there.

not that it was quite the point...

as far as I know, the G35 would have longer exhaust tubes, and a bit less tuning for less exhaust sound(my guess on where the 7hp went)... but dont know that for sure.

I've sat as a passenger in both my car (with my roommate driving) and in my roommate's Z, and I've also driven his car once. From the inside, the Z sounds louder to me. I can't say much about from the outside, but my bet would be that the G isn't louder.

I first read this post yesterday, then went to run some errands. It just so happened that I pulled up next to a G35 Coupe. My windows were down (so were his) and we drove side by side for while through traffic, stopping at a couple of lights, etc. and exchanged some compliments about each others cars.

I noticed that the G35 exhaust seemed louder, too. So at the next light I told the guy that his exhaust sounded louder than mine. He laughed and said "I was just going to tell you the same thing". So, I think it just depends on where you're at when you listen to the exhausts.

Talking Yup

Someone hit the nail on the head. We have changed many G35 and 350Z exhausts so we have a bunch of stock ones sitting at our shop at www.stagemotorsports.com

Its the center pipe, which is longer. Its like any other musical instrument, when you change the length you change the sound.

And yes I do agree the G35C exhaust sounds sweeter then our 350Z ARRGH heheh thats why i'm getting a new exhaust heh

Zya!
