I have the longer version of the 2ton from HF. I absolutely love it! The only way i cannot reacher under the car is from the front bumper unless i start with it on mini ramps.
so there is a longer version of the low profile? I was looking at this on there site and noticed two different item numbers and one saying its length was about 5 inches longer (thats what she said). I will probably go down and pick it up tonight.

(At least I think it's this one... been a bit since I bought it and you know how HF has several models of the same spec... fehh... but I think mine might actually be the 2.5T like Trav's...but close enough)
Doesn't roll nearly as well as my old Craftsman (now owned by my son) but it's light enough for his old man and hasn't failed me yet in a couple years of ownership. As they say, it gets 'er up every time. (Walks slowly to corner for a time out.)
Was going to buy a "traditional" mondo heavy duty jack but the "trick look" of this one won me over. (Damm poseur...) Haha.
A pair of these gets the Z up in two minutes. You still will require to use wheel chocks.
Trust me Ive been biting the bit to get some Race Ramps. But seeing they are stupid expensive and mostly the fact my front bumper wont clear it, probably a no go.

These are low profile and made to clear your Nismo Bumper! 67" long and can be obtained from an auction website...

I'm lowered. I only have about 3.5 inches of clearance, but the nose is pretty long, so it's like 3.5 inches for probably a good 10 inches in front of the wheels.
Even though this was saturday, finally got around to installing urethane differential bushings. So far i am wishing i had done it much sooner. The Z feels so much firmer while accerating. Now i can't wait to install a new cmc next.
Sup, Rusty
With proper tools, how much time is that? (Assuming I do homework, good skills).
Disclaimer: Long, frustrated, ranty post about something so simple that even a monkey can do it. (Uhhhh, not so much, read on to see why I say that if you dare.)
So I find this great deal on some wheels that will go on one of my cars or my son's car. Posted this a few posts back.
Wheel specs: Volk GT-C 19x8.5 +27 Front 19x9.5 +24 Rear, HUB CENTRIC (66.1) for Z! No hub ring adaptors according to previous owner! Haven't seen Z-specific wheels in a while.
Or so it was claimed. I asked beforehand what kind of car they came off of so I could get some hub ring adaptors. "350Z."
Excellent, methinks.
So far so good.
Got the wheels home and this morning, ended up buying a set of Bridgestone S04s, 245/35, 275/35-19 LOCALLY. First time I've bought good tires locally in a long time. Price - installed - was cheaper than TR, factoring in shipping and local installation on my existing (the Volks) wheels. Amazed me.
Before I go get the tires put on, I run off to Vex Motorsports, a local "tuner" place as they have huge selection of lug nuts.
Why new lug nuts you ask?
Well, usually, wheels requiring tuner lug nuts - like these Volks - are no-big-deal and the main concern is the size of the socket or tire wrench being too big (necessitating new lugs with thin wall socket). Well, not only are the lug holes on these wheels too small for the lug wrench and/or sockets, they're even too small for even the more popular tuner lug nuts themselves, e.g., McGard, Muteki, Varrstoens, etc!! WTF!! Dayam!
Ended up picking up a set of hex head lug nuts that were narrow enough for the lug holes and it came with a hex driver with a good old 19mm head protruding out past the face of the wheel so I can even use my impact driver on it without scratching the wheel. Cool. Oh, and in a way a minor theft deterrent.... I'm guessing miscreant wheel thieves are more likely to carry around lug wrenches than hex head drivers.... Har!
OK, note that I actually brought one of the FRONT wheels into Vex and we tried out the lugnuts to make sure they fit the lug holes. Perfect fit!
I go to the tire place, they have the tires all set and waiting. I drop off the wheels. Manager takes good care to lay wheels down in proper order, fronts off to one side, rears to the other. "Should be about two hours." No prob, I go home, put the car up on stands, take off all the existing wheels so all I have to do is slap on the new ones. Right?
BZZZZZZZTTTTTTTT.....
I wait. I wait some more and finally, three hours later, I call the shop. "Oh we're just getting them on the balancer, should be done in 30 mins." OK, no biggee.
I arrive and then I find out that they have some novice monkey working on them. "Oh, Mic, sorry, we got slammed and borrowed a tech from our sister store across town. He ended up putting the wrong tires on the wrong wheels."
You know the drill.... the smaller tires on the larger wheels. And I even debated, before leaving home, to MARK the wheels "FRONT - 245 TIRE ONLY" and "REAR - 275 TIRE ONLY" with a permanent sharpie on the wheel inner surface!! Seriously, was going to do this but figured..."Naaaah, how can anyone f**k this up??" Next time, NO ONE gets the benefit of the doubt!!
Ehhhhh, but whatever, no problem, pull them off, re-mount, balance. I'll wait.
Wellllll, as I'm waiting, I notice they're having a hard time getting the tire off one of the wheels. I can't watch the potential carnage being perp'd on my wheel. No, they're not perfect but c'mon.... oy.... Tell manager: "I'll be back in an half and hour."
Wait for it.... wait for it....
On my way away from the shop door, manager says, "Oh by the way, whoever owned these wheels must have curbed it." the manager showing me a slightly taco'd lip.
Livid I am. "That was NOT bent!!" And so on and so forth. But after blowing off steam, I figured it was so minor that I didn't press the issue as it's really not anything THAT bad.
Are you still reading? Too bad, cuz it gets worse....
Finally get the wheels home. Set my butt on the garage floor and decide to throw on the rear wheels first.
Slip 'em over the lug bolts then go to start the thread of a lug nut. Won't thread. "WTF???" Keep trying. Nada. Take wheel off. Now remember what I said about taking the FRONT wheel into the store to get the lug nuts? Wellllll, turns out the rear wheels have the lug nut seat near the SURFACE of the wheel and the lug nut doesn't even go through the lug barrel.
Bottom line:. Studs too short. (Or I need specific Ray's/Volk narrow lugs that will insert into the wheel?? Or something.....??)
Fehhhhhhhhhhhh.......
OK, before I give up altogether, decide to try and fit the FRONT wheel to the rear just to make sure the lugs actually work right in that wheel.
Uhhhhhhhh, wheel won't seat against the brake rotor hat because the hub hole looks too small. Smaller than the hub lip. WTF....
Take off wheel and discover.... yep, you guessed it. A hub ring adaptor. I'm fuming now. So I try to caliper the hole..... caliper too long for the inside of the wheel. More WTF.
So I force the ring out with hammer and punch. It reads "72.6-66.1". ARRRRRGH. it's the right size so what the hell????!! Ah well, I figure it's probably just the rust build up on the hub lip and I'll knock that down then try it again, although that solves nothing.
But, by this time, I'm hearing some brew calling my name. There's nothing I can do anyways. Button it all back up to original state. Put the tires/wheels up and call it a day.
Now I'm ranting to y'all.
But that brewski that was calling its name to me is keeping me company so it's all good.
So..... nothing worse than when something so mundane as a tire/wheel swap gone awry.
WTF.
Cheers (and thanks for listening to my fine whine.) ,
Mic
PS And no, don't really know what I'm going to do. I figure I have a few choices:
1. Install longer lug bolts and hope that works (which it will, I'm 98% sure). (Problem is I'll have to procure new lug nuts (open ended) for the Track V.1's if I go back to them which I probably will cuz these suckers are HEAVY!
2. Drill out the lug holes. Not a good option due to potential weakening. (Not likely but possible.)
3. See if there are "correct lug nuts" for this wheel.
4. Sell the wheels and take the loss - letting someone else deal with these issues. $500 anyone (wheels and lugs only)?? (I know this kind of posting is prohibited but it's contextually a minor detail.
