Nice job on the headlight. I've always liked the blacked out housing look.

I don't consider it to be the same as tinting your tail lights though. When tinting your tails you degrade light output by essentially putting a film on top; cheesy.

By opening your headlights to black them out you can get the desired look you're after without compromising the usability of them. So I see it as a much more worthwhile mod.

That being said- I would be lazy and replace them with the DEPO's...

Hmmm, maybe I should do some titanium shielding above my muffs and carbon fiber interior door latches... because rocket ship.

Depends on the color, tho. I saw a Chrome Silver w black-out lights, and it was

So, just to summarize my understanding of this.... it's aesthetic. Period. It doesn't do anything to diminish light scatter or enhance reach or spread or.... anything truly functional but a nice look?

OK, I get it now.

Totally respect that. Not my thing but like EVERY mod that anyone does, as long as it does something for them, hey.

Challenge was prying it apart, feeling like I was breaking stuff. I almost wanted to give up and send it to MR lighting boys down in San Diego, but I was persistent.

Reassemble was difficult too; after you paint the components and reinstall electrical. The 2nd one should be easier now that I've got a grasp on it all.

All-in-all, I spent $30 in paint, adhesive, sand paper and masking tape, bought some leather conditioner for the seats too.

This mod is worth it.

Pics coming soon.

Stillen splitter installed
Modified hex pattern grill installed on OEM bumper, now blackhead lights, I f#ckin' love my car!

Actually, Mic.
Seeing as how the 06 and up BiXenon lamps are focused and silver/reflective.

I imagine the usable light output goes down a tad.
But yes,
Purely cosmetic.

I put chrome gauge face rings in my 3rd gen Maxima. It was my favorite thing I did to that car. Do the happy mods!

A recent study conducted by Polk research institute surveyed women 18-34 found that the z33 more attractive with the blacked out housing.

Nissans CEO Noriyuki Haga said he regretted not blacking out the headlights on all z33 models.

Shouldn't the research be done prior to production? Or do what Honda does black out only the premium/special models to distinguish them from the rest.

I've seen a couple DB Z's on here with blacked out headlights and I think it looks really good. Personally, I like the unpainted housings on my black Z.

Agreed.
The value of being seen in a small black car at night outweighs any urge to tint tails or fronts.
But then, I see the road kill the EMTs bring in also.

Just keeping it real, boys.
