Ended up using the rear wheels from my new set as front wheels since my current rear wheels are in great shape.

Also decided to upgrade the rubber to give the car a square setup thanks to a few helpful guys over in the wheel/tire section.

Old: 225/45/18
New: 245/40/18

Me likey!

Thanks! Thanks for the input as well.

Now I'm debating spacers and what to lower it on. Progressive vs. Linear (I think linear)- not deep enough pockets for coilovers yet.

Hmm...

Funny you mention that, was going to say.... "...not an advocate of spacers but if you're interested in widening the track a little, a set of good spacers might work." but left my note as it was. Hahaha.

Yeah, no, I'm not an advocate of anything that artificially changes the scrub radius (altered offset without commensurate change in tire width) - taking out some of the steering sharpness in doing so; but I can't imagine that 15mm spacers would be anything too terrible. Dunno...

But other reason I don't care to even try them, another potential point of failure that I won't tolerate negotiating a nearly-off-camber 160 left - almost flat and next to the guardrail, this is - (of which there are several on my usual roads). Less stuff I have on the car, less stuff to break. Heh heh.

^ Hah!

I just came back on here to do a little more research after seeing the 25mm Ichiba sets for sale in the classifieds section because I hate how tucked the OEM wheels are. The 8.5's are just slightly more poked out- 3mm evidently. It could all be the placebo effect too.

I think I've scared myself out of the spacers. While I know a lot of people run them without issue, there are just too many horror stories (or 'too close for comfort' stories) to go through with it.

I would really like a wider track and quite like the flush(er) look, but I guess that time, money, and planning will go into a new set of wheels down the road. This will have to do for now.

Ps. For anyone curious, from what little spirited driving I've done on them so far, which isn't very much, I CAN feel a difference in turn in. It seems to take more steering effort to achieve the same effect as with the 225's, but definitely feels more planted and commanding up front. Seems to be less jittery than before over uneven pavement as well.

Bought a set of touring v2 wheels and had them repainted. That with new center caps and a set of Sumitomo HTR ZIII's. 225/45 up front and 255/40 rear.
