Lightbulb More Gas pedal Travel?

I was wondering did anyone else notice the medal block under the gas pedal? If removed there would be more gas. Which could mean more power??

Never tried it, but be warned, if it's like the setup on my 02 Maxima (which is the 1st year they put on an electronic throttle), you'll trip the service engine soon light and the car will go in limp mode. So, do it where it's TOTALLY safe if you suddenly lose power.

I hit this on my Maxima at the track cuz there was a recall on the accelerator pedal stopper and the dealer put on the wrong replacement part. It was quite scary as my car just coasted and wouldn't respond until it got below 20 mph, and even then would barely accelerate. Turning car on and off fixed it, but the light was still on.

Wouldn't figure any gain by doing so. Its drive by wire, so the max amout of gas is stored in the ECU, so going beyond that would not gain anything, might cause the CEL to turn on and put the car in safe mode (like that maxima)

If you are curious about the Maxima recall I mentioned, see http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/pr...intVersion=YES.

The accelerator pedal does not actually control the amount of gas going to your engine. It actually controls *air* flow. The accelerator pedal only controls how far open or closed the throttle body is. The flow of air is then measured by the MAF sensor, which tells the ECU and the ECU responds by increasing the fuel flow.

But all that aside, it would seem to be a weird mistake on Nissan's part if they designed it so that the throttle body was not fully opened when you floor the accelerator pedal. It's all electronic, so this can be tested. Use an OBD tool of some sort to monitor the position of the throttle body. When you floor the accelerator pedal, the ECU should show the throttle body opened 100%. If that's the case, then increasing the travel of the pedal won't do anything. (except maybe cause problems, like was mentioned up above)

Have there actually been cases in the past where Nissan cars have had the throttle body *not* open 100% when the pedal is pressed all the way down??

Thanks for the feedback. I think I will just leave it. My previous car which was controlled by cable didnt have a pedal stop. So I thought Nissan didnt want us to have more power then they want

Yes, the 350Z! It is already known that the throttle body does not open up 100%. This is controlled by the ECU and Technosquare has fixed this issue with their ECU upgrade among other things for $599. I have strongly considered getting the Technosquare upgrade but would rather have something I can tune myself someday.

Default 85% open throttle max

I just noticed that the maximum open throttle position is around 88% according to my pocket logger. I also noticed it has been a while since the last post here. Is there a cheaper solution to rectify this problem?????

I have heard that Nissan did a something similar to the old 300ZX and that fixing it added some good hp...

Not 100% open is pathetic.
