Need some insight on buying a 350z
Hey Guys. I am new to the 350z community. I have been in the import scene for a while and currently push around an ms3 w/ many tasteful mods. However, I am tired of the car and I am looking to get a 350z and more so to go just n/a. I am looking for an 03'-05' model (non convertable). Can I have some Pro's and Con's about the car? I have been doing research on the Z, but thought I can get some very insightful information from you current owners. Txs.

Ok, the pros are the handling, braking, looks, and reliability.
The cons: Stock it's slow - This car needs some kind of FI. It's heavy. It eats expensive rear tires. And the ABS and traction control systems suck. In my experience they either malfunction or kick in way too early.
I bought my car in April of this year. I had looked around for about a month and drove about 6 cars, both VQs and HRs. I honestly didn't notice any difference between the two engines. Both felt very slow. I was on the verge of looking for a different car altogether.
Then I dove the car I have now. It's an '03 with a stillen supercharger. Even though it only has about 320hp at the wheels, it feels much faster than an n/a car.
The car has been great. I haven't had any issues with it. It's a little rough starting in the cold, but even M3s are (the E46). The only annoyance is that I had to disable the ABS and traction control because the cold weather makes it act up (there are a lot of threads on here about ABS issues, and none were resolved cheaply). It drives fine without that though, so I don't consider it a real problem.

Very wise sir. Most of the comments you will get on here are subjective, such as calling the 350z "slow". Sure it's slow compared to a ZR1 Corvette, but it's faster than most cars on the road. Running 0-60 in the 5 second range and 1/4 mile in the 13 second range isn't what most people would call "slow". I haven't had any issues with TCS or ABS on my 350z as somebody previously mentioned. Just go test drive the car you are interested in as only you can decide if it is the car for you.
Hi JP… and welcome to the Forum.
It would be helpful when responding if you could add a little more detail to your question.
The Z comes in several Models/Versions, but all are pretty close to the same with minor differences in equipment (heated seats, leather seats, bembo brakes, vehicle dynamic controls, etc.) for specific Year-Models. For example, the engine is fairly close to the same by model-year.
There is a plethora of aftermarket products for the Z. You can improve the engine (lots of options here), change the interior, and swap body panels with exterior kits. You can purchase a stock car, and make it perform, handle, and look very differently from any other Z. In fact the car begs for customization, and many people do just that. In fact you can make your Z look as tasteful or ugly as you want.

It's just a matter of opinion, but I don't like traction control in general. I haven't driven any cars with selectable levels of traction control. I've only been in cars where it's either on or off. In these cases, the tc kicks in all the time.
I had it kick in when I test drove n/a cars in a fast 1st to 2nd shift going straight. On my car, it would kick in on a 2nd to 3rd shift with 275 rear tires. Never mind that the tiniest bit of slip in a turn makes it turn on.
I'm sure sport mode on a Ferrari works fine, and you would never want to turn it off. But I found myself turning the VDC off all the time.

The whole system is doing what it's supposed to do. Not everyone feels the need to chirp the tires with every shift. That's why you have the option to turn it off. Proportion your front and rear tires better and it won't "suck".
