Hey guys, I just added a new forum for newspaper and magazine articles/scans etc. I added some stuff there and I moved Ethan's post regarding a 350Z spinning it's wheels... heh (great find Ethan)

I have to voice some dissent on this one.
Im my opinion this was the problem with the original site - too many sub-forums, dilluting the posts.
I think the Z in the press is perfectly appropriate for this general forum.
Thats just me! I could be wrong!

Well, I appreciate your opinion for certain.
I myself didn't feel the original forum had problems other than software. I know some people didn't like extra forums though, you're not alone LowFuel. I was always felt if there is a forum someone feels is pointless, they shouldn't read it. I'm not getting defensive, or don't mean to come off like I am.
The main reason for ther additional "In the press" forum is simple. When someone posts major photos or scans, it slows the forum down somewhat. If we're trying to look through the general area and it's slow because of images, then it takes longer to get to the info. If we have a seperate forum for scans, it will speed the general forum up. I had pondered the thought of creating a "images" forum and having it so people couldn't post images anywhere but that forum... but then decided not to. I was going to put it to vote with the charter members, but then decided not to do it int he first place. (thus no vote was needed)
I was merely trying to speed the forum up, that's all.

Ahh I keep writing a lengthy reply to this and realize it either comes across as confrontational or retentive. It's not a big enough deal to argue over.
All I will say is that maybe the name "In the Press" is too broad for what you intend it to be used for, which is intitally what threw me. "Scanned Press Articles" might be better, and I'd have no problem with a forum for that.

I can see where you are coming from.
Here's an idea:
Make the "In the Press" forum such that only moderators can post there. Then, when a moderator sees something posted to "General" that is news worthy they can simply move the thread over to "In the Press." This way, the posts in "In the Press" will definitely be on-topic. Also, this will force all discussion to still be in the "General" forum where it might spark the most participation.
