Default Trade 350z for a G35 worth it or not?

Recently got an offer from a buddy of mine to trade my 04 350Z for his 04 G35.

We both have the same year model (mine is the touring edition with all options but navi. and two tone leather seats), his is the base model with all options including navi and moon-roof, but no HID.

I have 56K on mine, he has 45K on his.

Here's the kicker. His G35 has a REBUILT title due to theft from 2007.
The car was considered a loss from the insurance company cause the leather seats, navigation, the ground effects kit, and wheels/tires were stolen. he bought the car back and put it back together (took 2 years to find all the parts).

So it's a theft/recovery car.

I know this will reflect it on the WA title as "rebuilt", which i know decreases the value of the car.

I like the fact that the g35 is fully loaded and the G and the 350 share the same platform.

Think this would be a good deal or no?

no....spend a few more that is OEM...the g is the z just more luxurious....all in what you want...i'd say no to a car like that...keep the z...it seems like you already have everything the other guy does already except for a backseat...and who needs those!

Wouldn't do it, having a rebuilt title will definitely be a problem in the future unless you plan on keeping it forever...plus G35s are all over the road. Too common for my taste but it's up to you though.

That was my only concern. I'm a former insurance agent. So I know that i wouldn't be able to get full value of the G if it was totaled or stolen due to the title.

I wouldn't even considered it if it had been in an accident.

Worth it? Not really sure how to answer that one without some financial specifics.

How much do each of you owe on your cars?

Seems as though the value of his car would be less than yours so he will need to add some cash on top of the trade IMO.

We both owe nothing. both cars are paid off title in hand. None of our cars are modified, both stock.

As far as the condition, both cars are in excellent shape, no door digs, no accidents with carfax. just the G has a REBUILT status from Theft Recovery

this is for you to decide. if you need the extra room, want a more lux ride with a little less go, and if you will be keeping the car with NO care in the world for resale value, then make the trade.

sounds like you are already aware of all the pros and cons of the transaction

If it was a straight up purchase at a great price then go for it. But swapping cars of the same year for a salvaged one is shooting urself in the foot. pls move on

Thanks for the reply. I just needed some advice, I'm very in-decisive when it comes to cars, homes, girls...etc.

Took me 2 months to decide to get a Z and another month on which color I wanted. (was between a Black 350z or an white RX-8).

I confident the Z was a MUCH better choice.

Why would you even consider trading a clean title car for a theft recovery car no offense but thats just retarded. Makes absolutely noooo sense. Do you understand his car isnt even worth close to book value. Dealerships wont touch em in trade-ins and even private buyers are skeptical unless the car is drastically reduced. His car is worth pennies on the dollar no matter how good it looks
