Default 350Z End-Lease Decision (Oil Problems) !

I leased a 350Z in 2006 (Roadster Enthusiast, manual) and it’s about to expire in Sep 2010. I’m currently at 56k miles, no track miles (other than the occasional digs or rolls) and have no mods on the car.

I had my engine replaced twice by Nissan at 8,500 and 47,500 miles, both times due to oil consumption and dropping oil pressure. Aside from this issue, I didn’t have any real problems (like other 2006’s, I also had the driver window rolling down on its own and passenger seat not returning to set position after accessing the storage container behind it – both were fixed by Nissan).

What shall I do? I love the car and would like to add few mods if I decide to purchase it but I don’t know if I should w/ all the engine problems I had. Shall I just return it to Nissan at end-lease and get into a new car or keep it (I’m considering the 370Z or the new 5.0 Mustang)? Can I have it checked anywhere in Los Angles area and foresee any of the problems that I may have (I prefer a performance shop not a Dealer, also my suspension feel a little loose).

Please advise,

Thank you,

flip a coin. heads you keep it, tails you stop renting it and turn it in. keep going until you get to the decision you like

Test drive some other cars then make a decision. The good thing about renting, I mean leasing is you get to walk away. If you buy it make sure you get it cheap.

I'd walk away. It has too many issues.

Over the past 3 years your forum contributions have been ONE. You are a 350Z enthusiast? Really?

Time for a new car. Upgrade to a newer Z (2009 roadster if you don't like the look of the 370) or start driving other cars.

One of the used Zs I drove before buying mine was a lease car. It was an '08 base coupe automatic with 10K miles about 8 months old. The payoff on the guy's lease was $2000 more than I ended up paying for a brand-spanking new '08 touring coupe automatic.

I hope your lease deal was better than his.

Would you buy a used Z if the seller told you that the motor was replaced twice?

Bad luck with that car, ditch it for a 370. The next engine replacement will be on you, not Nissan.
