17-year-old male killed in fatal 350Z crash
Let's try it your way and see what happens. I guarantee you that the kids will find a way around it. We'll find out who's full of "weaksauce" then. You know I'm right. This is how kids currently get around the high insurance rates on sports cars, so what makes you think they won't just do it to a greater extent if you jack the rates up even more? They've already proven that this is the way around it.
I didn't say they couldn't find a way around it. I said theeir Civic would spend more time being worked on than running for many of them because most of them have no idea how to build a car. That Z in the pic looked stock to me, I know it could have been a sleeper, but I doubt it. With my suggestion this kid might still be alive.
I say the insurance rates are already TOO high for almost everyone. The insurance companies are crooks anyways. Don't give them the money, just make getting a license to drive this type of car a more lengthy and expensive process. That will deter some kids, and the ones that aren't deterred will have a much better education on how to drive it.
Sure, you'll still end up with fatalities from stupid young drivers (and old ones).. but not as many.
I disagree. If you shoot the parent they'll be in the hospital or even worse die and then the kid is going to buy the sports car for sure as there's no one left to stand in his way.
Lol, are you illiterate? I did not resort to anything when you "called" me out. Those are not random numbers, and I stated in my second post that kids these days, even myself at that time, were working 20 hours a week for 8-12 dollars an hour plus bonuses/tips whatever and wherever you work. I explained what those numbers meant and where they come from, and yet you still say those are RANDOM numbers thrown out there? Are you fuking retarded? Read please. I will say this again for you, so you can understand, and hopefully you can comprehend. High school/college kids work. They work 20 hours a week. Still following me? Good. They make around 10k a year. Now, assuming they didnt spend any of it, they COULD purchase a car with high hp. Am I not right? What part of that do you not understand? And I was talking about the allowance part because most parents give their kids allowance to hang out with their friends, eliminating their needs to spend a lot of the money they earn. Do you understand now? Are you still going to say those are random numbers? And good job "calling" me out on something I already explained, twice....
Please tell me that you do not believe that it was the 20hrs a week that I was questioning? Your claim was pretty straight foward in saying that a kid could save 12k in a year. You first make it sound as if it makes no sense for someone to think that daddy bought their kid a Z, then you throw a bogus number out there. Then I called you out on your numbers and you resort to bring up an allowance from daddy.

I read just fine, as long as daddy provides an allowance and everything else that a child will possibly need, then yes they can afford a high hp car if if they choose to have no life and save everything. Not the life I would want, but it can be done

Yea, thats all I was trying to get across. I wasn't factoring in anything else, just that with those numbers a kid could purchase a car. Thats all.
Thats a much better answer to your own question, so yes, I'm happy now

To all those people who decide to put out negative energy shame on you. Be sure though that the negative energy you put out does come back to the source in which it came from.
I'm saddened that this unfortunate accident happened and hope the families involved find something positive out of this. This could also help curtail someone else thoughts of driving to hard when they are unsure of what lies over the crest of the next hill or corner.

Maybe I am missing something but I did not see anywhere in the article that says the parents bought the car for the kid. I have a 16yr old who just got his license and I have made it clear the closest he can get to my Z is either in the passenger seat or help me wash it. He understands the reason but am I supposed to put the keys in a gun-safe?.
What if (God forbid) one day while I am away he becomes stubborn and sneaks out with the car? Just hold the blame on the parents for now because we don't know the whole story.

Ive done some stupid **** at the age of 30. ive done really stupid **** at 23. When i was 17..well I just shake my head and thank the Big Guy upstairs for looking out for me. And my parents. Cuz when i was 17 I wanted a 300ZX Turbo so badly it ached. My parents laughed at me. Good thing they did, Id be dead for sure. KIDS and Sports cars as a general rule, DO NOT mix.
Right.. because obviously driving like you're out of control is soooo cool.
It looks better when you're in control of the car, rather than driving wrecklessly PERIOD (Track or Streets, anywhere)
If they're doing it for thrills, take it to the track... seriously. ****ing dumbasses. It's really the driver, not the age.
