Default RACE Stores and Strange Stare Downs!

Commmmooonnnn

I know they're out there 4k+ Rule breakers (and those blessed few who have gingerly stepped past 1200 miles). What have you blow past - who have you suprised - who has gawked and almost crash (and crashed!)????

Limmie hear it hehe... these are the stories and info I relish... congrats to all you lucky dogs - I'll be joinin' you on the roads in a week or less. Tell some fish stories now damnit!!!

I really planned on keeping it under 4k, really I did. Only 40 miles so far, and I had to take it up to about 5k to: 1) Blow around grandma in her Buick Century and 2) Show Honda Civic boy who's boss. Oh well, I guess as I don't redline it yet I should be ok.

I did no such thing - who would dare violate the break-in period just to smoke, say, a BMW 540 i? Oh yeah, Traction control works well on very wet roads. He caught me at the next red light, had a big smile on his face, rolled down his window and said, "damn...nice." That about says it all.

I've been followed into a gas station just so someone could get a picture, into Lowe's parking lot so a guy with 2 on pre-order could touch and feel, but (so far, knock on wood) no accidents. One guy came awful close to hitting me while gawking at 80 on the highway.

Hey, I broke the 4k "rule" a lot during break-in, but now at over 1200 miles, look out! On a recent drive up a twisty road without traffic, I followed a new rule and rarely let it below 4k. A pesky new Miata tried to keep up with me and of course I left him WAY behind on the straights and eventually he became a smaller and smaller speck in my mirror.

Passing a truck and dropping it into second, WHOA, it started to break loose and the TCS cut in. Then the rev-limiter kicked in (guess I got carried away). Despite the electronic reigning-in, it was the quickest pass I've ever done on four wheels.

Yeee-haaa!

Hah, you can beat a civic while staying under 2K, not a problem.

It goes against my better judgement to post this, but it's all in good fun.

Let's try to keep things civil this time around, okay?

good post.

all in fun.

should be close between the two, Z and s2000, depending on the driver.

of course that race was like fighting with one hand tied behind your back, just wait till they're broken in and the driver learns how best to drive the car.

From reading the posts on that forum, it goes to show that most s2000 owners, like other honda owners, are ignorant *********. They think their cars are the best and nothing can touch them, dream on.

At least there were some people who seemed to have their heads out of their asses.

I generally don't condone this type of behavior, but next to my office there are two very long tire marks that just barely fade out before starting again. A 4500 rpm launch with TC off got me almost to second, and that shift probably laid down another few yards of rubber.

I was eating lunch and I watched a guy get on his motorcycle in front of the restaurant. He backed out, and just as he releases the clutch, he sees the Z, stalls it and just barely puts his foot down in time

That thread was funny. I like when message boards slide into violent threats.

Just to clarify a point made on the board. Wouldn't a car w/ more horsepower be better from a rolling start? The faster you go, the less the weight of the car comes into play. I would think the Z would have an advantage on a highway start while the lighter Honda would have an advantage off the line.

To me, that sounds like there are some worried people that their cars won't be kings of the hill anymore. But that's the way it always is. There's always going to be something coming out that's a bit better or faster.

You know us Z owners will have probably the SAME discussions when we start seeing RX7's and Supras on the road again.

I think the most valid point made in the conversation is that the S2K needs to launch at such high rpm to really be effective off the line. With the Z's great torque, that sort of thing's not necessary.

Getting back to the thread's original topic, I pulled a black Z over the other day by frantically waving my hands at him to see if I could take a look. He gave me a pretty funny look before he pulled over, I'm sure I looked like some sort of whacko. Turned out it wasn't even his car, he worked for Nissan and was doing some sort of training. Good thing it wasn't his, he would have deserved a beating for how dirty the car was.

I let my friend, an S2k owner, drive my Z after I got back from Tampa. His quote, "man, makes my car feel like a go-kart." The S2k is fast, but the Z feels so much more powerful...I imagine the difference in most street races right now will be the quality of the driver.

Tell us how you really feel!

Most sport car owners are ignorant ********* but at least we're not, right?

Also, it should be noted that the Street Encounters forum is a hilarious place to visit. The fish simply gets larger and larger!

Hey NissaNZ,

Can't you calm down and have an open mind about things? I mean, granted LA is riceboy heaven, but seriously, I think you need to let some of this anger go.

It'd make it a lot more pleasant for us real car enthusiasts on this board.

Seriously man, open your mind.

Most S2000 owners bought the best sports car (in the price range) that was available at the time. Most 350Z owners will do the same thing.

OK, I think you understand by now that, although you may have been negatively influenced by what you read on the linked S2000 web site, that kind of ignorant ******** behaviour is not appreciated on our nice civil board.

(In my experience, most of the time when you're calling someone else an a$$hole you're being one yourself!)

I currently own two Hondas and I have a 350Z on order. Ignorant? I don't think so. ********? Only my wife knows the details of that.
