Started at the age of 15, got my first job, and it went from there;
1987 celica st - hand me down, then donated for tax writeoff
1992 240sx - sold
1972 datsun 240z -still have it
1987 mazda rx7 - sold
1994 infiniti g20 - daily driver once i finish this motor swap
2006 nissan 350z enthusiest model 6spd.
Bought the z when i was 18, im 19 now. Only car my parents paid for was the celica that was handed down to me.
Not all young people get a z handed to them....

I've been wanted to see a thread like this for a while now. I started at 16 and graduated from college last year and finally got to shop for a car that I wanted instead of just what was available. That has made the ownership of my G even sweeter... but I'm ready to pay it off.
1988 Honda Civic Hatch 4sp. (free) sold
1984 Ford E150 (FreedomVan)(free) still own
1994 Toyota Tercel (valued at less than free) motor seized
1993 Pontiac Bonneville ($2000) sold
1994 Honda Civic Coupe 5sp. (free) for sale
1994 Toyota Previa (borrowed) still have
2003 Infiniti G35c 6MT (financed) Ah... At last!

Ok guys, I like this thread. Not only is it more than 5 years old but this whole issue of whether or not young people deserve to drive a car like this keeps getting brought up.
I completely admire and am in fact envious of young people (21 and younger) that have bought this car themselves, that shows lots of responsibility and determination. I also do not like spoiled kids who own something like this and take it all for granted.
That being said, Im 19 years old, and I am lucky enough to have had my parents purchase my 06 DB for me. I know Im spoiled, but I do NOT take it for granted. I appreciate everything that is given to me, and if you knew me well enough, you would know where I come from. Im fortunate enough to own an amazing car before Im even twenty years old. Now I care about my car, but as someone earlier said, i will never appreciate it more than the person who bought it themselves, and I agree with that. Its just impossible.
Now on the other hand, if I see another kid out there with something like this, I dont hate, its cool that they have a nice car and that they are lucky enough to have their parents pay for it, but if they are snobs and think they own the world, that really pisses me off Its important to be humble IMO, and if you're not than you dont deserve it.

I'm only 20 now but have been paying for my cars on my own since i was 18 and bought a mustang. I mean i pay my car payments on my own, insurance (which is through the roof even though i have no tickets and one fender bender), maintainence, gas. Everything!!! So it does make it kinda depressing to see these 17 year old kids just get handed a Z for a birthday present or something. But then again if my parents were just going to give me a $30,000 car i don't think i could say no either. So in reality its not really their fault.

that is very true. i would like to see one of the people who are bashing turn down a $30,000 when they where 16. i would have taken it with open arms and been happy. but the people who **** me off are the ones who get the car then think they are hot sh** race car drivers and end up wrecking the car.

I'm 23, and I've had a lot of cars, especially since I started driving at 18. My parents co-signed on the loan for my new Z, but I don't think I'm spoiled, I'll be the one making the car payment and outrageous insurance payment.

was turning 18 this past summer when i got my liscence.. 3 days before my 18th birthday
at 16 and 17 i was driving a cadillac XLR and a deville' on and off, summer when i was 17 (this past summer) i had enough to pay for 1/3 of the car i wanted: a 2007 350z.
yep, my first car was a 350z... and yep, i continue to defy the odds on a daily basis by driving safely and not doing stupid thinngs.. big difference between going fast when appropriate and realizing that you probably shouldn't be dodging in between cars in light rain.
just under 10k miles and no ticket, no accident, nothing at 17-18 years old and MY first car.

right on brother! who would turn this car down if it was handed to you?? I agree with the last 4-5 posts about people hating but if they were in the same position, they would turn out to be hypocrites
