what about 20 year old an a 350z.

Im 20 and bought a 2006 last month. I bought with my own money. I pay the gas, insurance, etc. I also am not a useless person. I work in the largest brokerage firms in the southeast US. I also have a 3.3 GPA and attend a top 100 Business schools.

So am I am little punk for getting a car that everyone on here loves. No im not.

I saved up for a year and made the biggest investment of my life so far and I dont regret it one bit.

Lol! Yeah Quasi, in the meantime, why don't you take your childish attitude in the FI section and see how long you last there.

I use to ace the PFT back at MCAS El Toro.

Then again, I don't think I could rest 30 secs and do it again. Maybe the running part, but definitely not the others...

It's more attitude than age, but 99% of the 17 year old's seem to be punks who think they are buying the car and not their parents. They don't count room and board, Insurance and little details like that.

All of the kids in this thread have 1 common trait when discussing their 350z.

Excuses

Buying a 350z is hardly an investment

So... is that what they teach you at the top 100 business school, Ace?

And what school is that, pray tell us. I want to be sure to steer my daughter away from it when she starts choosing a college in a few years.

how is it not an investment...you put money down on a car and then pay interest to a bank. I never said that it was a huge investment like a house but still an investment.

You can consider a car an "investment" only if you are in the business of reselling vehicles (i.e. buy low, sell high). Otherwise, your vehicle is a depreciating asset at best.

Surely you've taken accounting at your "top" school?

That boy has got a lot to learn - wonder what his class rank is in that Top 100 school?
In case he is still around:
Investment definition

An asset or item that is purchased with the hope that it will generate income or appreciate in the future. In an economic sense, an investment is the purchase of goods that are not consumed today but are used in the future to create wealth. In finance, an investment is a monetary asset purchased with the idea that the asset will provide income in the future or appreciate and be sold at a higher price.

An investment is something you purchase with the intent to make a profit on. Surely you learned this at business school...probably your 100 classes.

edit > Sorry, I responded before checking to see if anyone else took care of it

That was something I learned in high school economics. Of course, I'm so old that when I attended high school we were actually taught something.

Likewise. Although I showed this thread to my 17 year old daughter and she asked if this guy could really be that ignorant. So there is hope for some of the youngsters. BTW, she has never driven my Z.

I also have a 3.3 GPA
That would not put him very high in the class rank, top 1/3 at best.
