Default paint is chips easy!

BE careful when putting gas in I slipped a bit with the nozzle and a chip came right out.Good thing it was tiny but it made me aware of how easy it is to chip the paint. Maybe because it's stilll new and unhardened?Maybe it's the paint quality- hope not!

I have a very small chip on my hood already. must be from the road...there are lots of re-pavement on the street around Houston, so I'll have to be careful..

I need the 3m protector now

I also have a chip near the leading edge of my hood. That aluminum is definitely soft as the rock penetrated the primer and slightly dented the hood.

I will try to get it patched as best I can at a body shop but I will not repaint the entire hood. Then, I will immediately get that 3M stuff installed.

Isn't the newer environmentally friendly paint much softer and prone to chips than before? I heard most cars newer than 2000 have this problem.

This is cutting corners in manufacturing process, that simple. I have driven and inspected hundreds of new/year old cars driven in every condition and the cars that are ALWAYS the worst paint are alot of the Nissans, KIA, and Hyundais.

Not sure about what yuo can really do about it, but I wouldn't deal with it. Something like this would make me look at another car since I want my cars to look impeccable and not like they were driven through a warzone.
