before I say what I want to do I have to tell you what I have:
I have a 2006 black enthusiast 6spd with 46k miles that I purchased about a week ago for just over 14k and will have payments under 300 for 3yrs. I am though going to have my O2 sensor replaced and a belt replaced that will probably be 500 right off the top so not sure how much I want to put into my car.

options:
• do a catback exhaust, tint the windows, do a aftermarket cold air intake, and possibly the turismo spoiler
or
• just stay stock and spend a couple hundred and fix a few scratches that were on the car when I bought it. Not sure which way I want to go.

I had my belts replaced at the dealership for less than $200. O2 sensors can be found online for less than $70 and you can change that yourself. There's half your projected budget depleted.

 

you can do belts yourself, it's not too hard. 200bucks to change belts, that's steep.

 

Less than, I think it was around $180. I had just bought the car and I didn't know much about it. Sounded fair to me for dealer prices.

 

also, I would do drop-in filter, HFC(or testpipe), exhaust and a tune. Not a spoiler. 350z comes with very good intakes and I think you could spend that money towards something else.

 

I hear you, I remember the time I payed my dealer 150bucks to put on a popcharger I was such a dumbshi*

 

I have a guy that can probably do all of it for like 350 or so. I might be able to do all of it by myself but I'd just rather a auto place to do it for me.

 

if i could do it over again:

fix paint, etc -> wheels and suspension -> audio, etc -> body upgrades -> THEN performance

 

try and do both. are the scratches able to be buffed out with a detailer you think? you could find used exhausts and intakes in the marketplace for cheap depending on the brand you want.

 

Fix what REALLY needs fixing, save your money for things that will REALLY need fixing later on (there are bound to be some), and enjoy the car.

Holy **** people spend money to replace belts??? With those prices i could retire and run a mobile belt repair service and be millionair in like a week. Belt change = cost of belt and that's it. It takes like 8 bolts to pull the front skid plate down and then one bolt connected to the tensioner to loosen then re tighten. And the 02 sensor might be hard to get off without the right tool mine we siezed in and took a good amount of persuading to remove but other then that probably 2 easiest jobs to do on a z

 

the scratches on the hood can be buffed out for the most part. There are though a few other scratches that would need to be done by a professional. I have one on the front bumper, one on the back left fender and a small dent on the front left fender. You can't really tell unless u look hard but I want my car to be clean and look fresh. Hopefully my brother, who paints cars and tractors for a living, can fix these for cheap. I bet they'll be around 500-800 to fix though.
