Parking your Z in the streets
I've had to park my Z outside for almost a year now. It sounds like everyone with bad experiences lives in a busy area. OP here's a few things to consider:
-park next to a driveway, as mentioned above. You'll have a free space to get out, and its less cars trying to park next to you and potentially scratching your car. Just try and leave some space for the lucky bastard with the driveway
-avoid parking under trees and lamp posts, and make sure not to park next to any sprinkler heads
If this parking situation is long term you should look into purchasing a car cover. The least you can do is throw a few microfiber towels and detail spray in the storage compartment, and do a quick check for any bird doo or bugs every time you walk out to the car. If you don't keep on top of this your paint wont last long.

i dont have a choice but to park on the streets. i live in a newer neighborhood. worse thing that happened to me as of now was getting egged.
bright side is my street is very wide so other cars have lots of room to maneuver.

I park my Z outside until I get a house (apartment atm) When I go to the store or a friends I back my car into their garage or I park like 20 empty spaces away from others. I am not sure what I would do if I saw someone hit my car with their door then try to bail.
I live in the inner city now. Left my car on the street for a couple days since I've lived at my new home. Someone decided to toss a heavy stone at my door one day while I was at work. I took the car in last week for an estimate which includes some small dings on the hood also, as well as to paint/clear coat the underside of the hood...$900...
